In Document A, a chart is given to us. That chart represents how the two types of government, central and state, have different powers and ideas. By having variety in ruling/ ideas, the constitution can guard against tyranny since there are “double security” for the people, which also represents federalism. The two charts show that there isn't just one big government like tyranny, yet several ideas within the states to create one big idea, for the constitution to prevent tyranny. It keeps balance in the government to prevent tyranny from happening.

Creating a federalist government guards against tyranny by balancing power between the central and state governments, and allowing the state governments to have power and rights through creating laws about their own states. Having central government power, state power, and shared powerassures that one group doesn’t gain to much control, while still allowing for a stable government. This is shown when James Madison says, “first divided between two distinct governments [state and federal] (...) hence a double security arises to the rights of the people.”(doc. A; source: James Madison, Federalist Paper #51, 1778)

The power was separated and each branch could check each other kind of like a group project. This was known as checks and balances. For example the executive branch can veto a congressional legislation but the judicial branch can declare presidential acts unconstitutional. The power went around in a circle inshoring the power was shared by each branch and no one branch could have all the power.
