         <description><![CDATA[<div>Dental hygienists clean teeth, examine for oral diseases such as gingivitis,&nbsp;and provide other dental care. They work along side the dentist as well as encourage and educate patients on ways to improve their oral health. Dental hygienists will typically have to do duties such as remove tartar, stains and plaque from the teeth. Another duty they have is to apply sealants and fluorides in order to help protect a patient's teeth. Dental hygienists also may have to take and develop dental x-rays. They will have to examine a patient's oral health and report their findings back to the dentist. Other responsibilities include documenting patient care and treatment plans, and educating patients on how to brush and floss correctly.</div>]]></description>

To protect themselves from these diseases and infections, dental hygienists will wear surgical masks, safety glasses, and gloves. When taking x-rays, they are sure to follow strict procedures in order to protect themselves, as well as patients from exposure to radiation. </div>]]></description>
