I think that she was murdered by the prince who was able to successfully slip through his murder able to marry another girl that he really loved and rule until he dies and his children take over. The tree then says something to the prince which makes him angry and try to kill the queen. The mob then stops the prince before he stabs the queen. They put him down and ask the queen what she was about to say. She says that she is innocent but before she finishes the tree stabs her with a branch. When they take her to get burned she is going to say that she didn't murder her and she is going to say that he himself murdered the woman. But they are going to believe THE BOY ND THEY ARE GOING TO BURN HER.

The fact that he says it in first person, makes me think that he killed her
