"One of the children raised an imaginary rifle and made an attempt to destroy him with a firing noise. 'Pssheeew!'

The song "BlackBird" by the Beatles is about when given an opportunity or a chance, take it. Thats exactly what Jonas did. He was given an opportunity to give the memories back to the people of the community and that's what he went to go achieve. While doing this he got another opportunity to save Gabe from his death and he did. This song also talks about how a blackbird learns to fly and see. Jonas learns the feelings and emotions the giver gives him through memories (to fly) and sees things he hasn't seen before such as war, starvation, etc. (to see).
