Creativity is using original ideas that you yourself came up with. Creativity is being different, and not just following along with what everyone else does. Creativity is the ability to think in unique ways. Creativity can also be defined as having a different point of view than everyone else.

Identify a theory or model and explain how it contributes to your understanding of creativity. How might this theory or model inspire you to foster children's creativity?

The Constructivist Theory states that individuals are active participants in the construction of their own knowledge. As children engage with their environment new schema's are built and creativity expands. This helps children's understanding of creativity because they use things that they already know to create something new.
This theory can help to inspire me to foster children's creativity by letting them experiment and learn things on their own. They will learn problem solving skills and they will learn to be creative with the resources that are available to them. I can allow children to have a bunch of different materials available all over the classroom to help inspire creativity. They can choose materials that stand out to them or that they are personally interested in.

What are the Dimensions of playfulness, and which one best characterizes you as a child?

The dimensions of playfulness are physical spontaneity, Social spontaneity, cognitive spontaneity, sense of humor, and manifest joy. Physical spontaneity is how well a child engages in physical activity during play. Social spontaneity is how flexible the child's interactions are. Cognitive spontaneity is the child's use of imagination. Sense of humor is how well the child jokes or clowns around during play. Manifest joy is how often the child shows she enjoys the play activities.
The dimension that best described me as a child is the physical spontaneity dimension. As a child I would always enjoy moving around. I loved to run, climb, jump, and stay active. This taught me coordination skills at a young age.

What is the difference between process and product in the visual arts, and which concept (process or product) do you think best relates to the idea, Art Belongs to the Child?

Process art is about the creative process of making the art and not about the end product. Product art is doing a project to make a particular end product. In process art there is no specific way it should look. I think that the process that best relates to the idea that art belongs to the child is process based because children can be more creative when they do not have to create a certain product.

The music artist that I chose is Billie Eliish. Her style of music is pop. She takes risks because her style is very different from most musical artists. She is herself and she has her own type of style. She is creative in different ways than most people. She is very self expressive because she does not care what other people think.

What are the connections between pantomime and creative problem solving?

Pantomime is the use of movement and gestures to express ideas or feelings it is obtained from actions and not words. This is one of the best ways for children to start learning how to creative problem solve. They can use actions that they are already familiar with to act out a certain thing.
These two things are connected because they allow children to create things with actions that they have already learned. They also both provide the children with multiple outcomes so that they can be creative in their own way.

My favorite children's story is The Three Little pigs. I would help children experience this story with a puppet show. This would allow them to watch the story, and then after they learn what the story is about I would allow them to put on a puppet show of their own. I could also just read this story aloud to them or let them watch a video over this story. Another thing that they could do is put on a play where they act out the characters in this story.

In what ways does nature reflect creativity? (Use examples.)

Nature reflects creativity because there are so many colors. When you are in nature you get a real feel of how unique things are, and it can inspire you better than just looking at an image on google. When you actually go out into nature you can see all the different features that are on every little thing. Everything in nature is different. Just walking through the woods can boost your creativity.
An example of creativity in nature would be a plant growing. It changes constantly in its own way. This is creative because it is not the same as all of the other plants. There are also no right or wrongs in nature. There are no rules that each plant or animal has to follow. So thus it reflects creativity.

(Refer to textbook pp. 17-20; 284-288) Consider brain, affective, and holistic development in children. What are some of the strengths of teaching/learning through integrated arts projects with children?

Some of the strengths of learning through integrated arts are that children learn a wide variety of different skills that they will use during their lives. Everyone's brain works differently than everyone else so they learn how to think differently from other kids. Affective development helps on all different areas of development some of these including social skills, language, creative arts, and cognition. Holistic development is a good way to help children develop physical skills, social skills, intellectual skills, and emotional skills. It teaches them real skills that they will need later in life. Integrated arts teaches students all the skills they will need in their future at the right time in their lives. It is based around what children already know, and what they need to learn. It lets the children move at their pace and it allows them to learn these skills in ways that they learn best.

Which of Dewey’s human impulses do you believe best relate to the idea of emerging curriculum? (Define emerging curriculum at the beginning of your answer.)

Emerging curriculum is a development approach to plan for children's learning in an early childhood setting. Through this teachers can better understand individual child's needs.
Dewey's best human impulse for this is expressing or creating artistically. I think that this is the best one because it can show how each child thinks differently when you let them all create something. Allowing children to freely make art without an end goal can allow teachers to see what each child is like and what they are good at.
