really enjoyed all the presentations! well done everyone 🤩

the strategy that left the most impact was Story Mountain because of how it explicitly teaches students to use each step while writing a narrative essay. it is very clear and helpful especially for students who struggle with ideas or organisation👍🏻 definitely one of the strategies i will be using as a SENO.

I learnt how to use POW (point-organise-write) + TREE to help my student in their writing. This was my first time hearing about POW, and the acronym is clear and POWerful!

A very good job to everybody for coming up with an awesome presentation! 👏🏻🥳

What was my biggest takeaway is using our 5 senses to aid in writing, this is something that is around us, that we are conscious about. Using this as a learning strategy makes it more practical and easier to follow. Simple sentences can easily be created. I will definitely use this strategy to teach my students in future

Group 1, 2 and our group used almost the same strategies (multi-sensory). However, we presented it in a different ways such as their graphic organiser was used for the 5W 1 H while our graphic organiser was used for our 5 senses strategy. Group 2 used it in their strategy "Say it, Tap it, Write it".

We also realised that all except us elaborated on assessment tools used.

Group 2 also had an interesting progress monitoring method which I have not thought of "Word wall - cumulation of words student has learnt to serve as recap/reminder)

Group 4: I saw the group made it easier to understand and use it in practical compared to e-learning. *mnemonic rhymes - make learning easier

*Last but not least: I will remember in mind "less is really more"; "Teaching is not equal to learning. When you teach, doesn’t mean that our students have learnt".

"FAIL is our first attempt in Learning. Well done guys 👏🏼

It was a very valuable last session as I learnt so many different strategies that I can use on my students in the future when working with them! The first thing that stood out to me is using the POW and TREE strategy when it comes to writing. The second thing that stood out to me will be using story mountain which serves as a visual reminder on how one can write. Something important that I’ll bear in mind is to always conduct assessments both prior and after the sessions I’ve had with the student.

Thank you Dr Liz for always feeding us for every session and it really sucks to know that you won’t be teaching us anymore. However what really struck me was the emphasis that the time spent with each student, no matter how little or much has the power to shift how a student view themselves as a capable learner. I will definitely take this with me as I progress along my learning journey as a seno. Once again thank you so much Dr Liz for doing what you do and we really appreciate you!

I really enjoyed all the presentations today, especially the step by step demonstrations that I found really helpful. My biggest takeaway would be using multi-sensory approach, which quite a few groups covered today, using our 5 senses to help students come up with adjectives to lengthen their sentence. I also realised the importance of tweaking our lessons to fit the student's interest in order to keep it engaging (e.g., dinosaurs theme, Dr Liz's sharing on using cookbooks to improve student's reading). I think as long as students are engaged, it is half the battle won.

Thank you Dr Liz for your kindness and for sharing all the resources and knowledge you have with us, giving us so many tips and tricks when we go into our practicum school. Well done :) Genuinely learnt a lot from every presentation.

I particularly found the Story Mountain to be very helpful as it allows students to organise their thoughts clearly + expand on their story. I thought it was wonderful that the group decided to get the student to review their own work samples and apply the strategy. This really helps the student evaluate their own work using the strategy learnt. More meaningful and personal as well.

Will definitely try that out, along with all the other strategies shared by other groups :)

Thank you soooo much Dr Liz for everything ❤️ I truly enjoyed this module a lot.

I like that the group factored the interest of the student when explaining the strategy.

The use of graphic organisers would pair very well with POW+TREE, making what could be a complicated strategy easier for the student.

Lastly, the strategy that my group covered- Story Mountain, was a great learning experience too! This teaches students about how to write a proper narrative without requiring that the student practice writing.

Overall, I learnt that while there are a variety of strategies, the method of delivery for each strategy can differ too.

As Dr Liz alluded to, what matters more is if both the strategies and method of delivery work help the student understand better.

I really learnt alot from all the presentations today and it was amazing to see all the effort that went into consolidating our learning for the last presentation. Really could see all the growth that we've all made as we are now more confident to plan interventions based on students' needs!

Today, I've learnt about using the 5 senses to help student add more descriptive details to their writing. In addition, the use of POW+TREE to provide explicit instruction to guide planning of ideas before more argumentative essays Vs Story Mountain for more narrative writing!

I think a key takeaway for me in this course is to really enjoy the process. It was nice to have been challenged to think up of interventions that in the end I had alot of satisfaction to put into action! I believe that as a SENO if I enjoy the sessions my students would too and will enjoy their learning process! :)
