Examples of noise in the communication process:

1. Semantic noise - an example of this would be the term "OT". "OT" would mean over time for majority of people but for those working in the medical field, "OT" to them would mean operation theatre.

2. Mechanical noise - an example of this noise would be a television set with snowy picture.

3. Environmental noise - one example for this is the sound of thunder during a heavy storm.

Share your opinions briefly on the phenomenon of media convergence. Where do you see the future of the user-generated content in the next 5 years?

In my opinion, the rapidly changing trends of media is definitely inevitable. With media convergence, it brings both good and bad to society. For the advantage, the worldwide access to Internet and the media gives a chance for creativity to people from any background, country or lifestyle. The never-ending competitiveness of the industry challenges people to go above and beyond with their ideas and creations.

For the downside, it might create confusion and doubt as s anyone can write, post or film about anything. This can bring about doubt and the debate over credibility.

In the next five years, I see an opportunity for businesses and creative industries to make use of this technological change in media to further expand and brand themselves in an effective and efficient manner.

Why do you trust or distrust the print newspapers?

I trust the print newspapers to a certain extent. It all depends on how the articles are written and how the stories are worded. This is because not all journalists hold onto the fundamental etiquettes of journalism whereby they are supposed to deliver the truth without sensationalizing the news. It is for that reason that I take into account what they are delivering but not fully trusting just that one source.
