Thoughts/Reactions: Hard time to talk about this when it might cause problems with work relationships during an already stressful time. People are spread thin emotionally, hard to bring it to work too. However, this is happening right now, so we have to handle it right now. Students are being exposed no matter what our opinion is on it, whether we feel emotionally ready to handle it or not.

I could choose to become a part of a community of people who don't want to discuss this topic. I kind of need to ignore it the uncomfortable and deal with it. I feel like reading about what our black students are dealing with and experiencing can help me identify concrete things to help students of color.

We always have a hard job. I'm okay with being uncomfortable with this topic. It's just a particularly hard year. There's always a lot on our plates, but we don't usually have a global pandemic :)

I have family members who have been affected and I worry about them. I have to put in the work to change.

The book we are reading is very difficult. I feel like it divided us and our discussions became very political.

Needs to be addressed asap. Educators need to be aware of and teacher their students now. One person said parent wasn't there as a kid so will be there for kids no matter what because that person didn't have someone. We need to teach our students to be strong.
