The markers (signs) of prosperity in the 1920's for women and African Americans were the Great Migration, Harlem Renaissance, and the Roaring 20's. During the Great Migration, African Americans in the south moved north to flee it's caste system. The Harlem Renaissance was full of talent which allowed many African Americans to express themselves whether it was art, music, or dance. The Roaring 20's were signs of prosperity for women because they were rebellious by expressing themselves through clothing and their attitudes.

It's mostly men but this also show that they accepted women to play since they all shared the same talent and interest. It looks like it did not matter what color you were because there are a few white people.

The causes of the stock market crash and the Great Depression were the Creation of Consumers, buying on a credit/margin, and irresponsible banking. Consumers caused the stock market crash because they bought goods they couldn't pay up front since there weren't any regulations and only made small payments. Buying on a margin meant that the consumer would pay with a credit card for what they couldn't pay which lead to a large amount of debt. Banks would lend out loans even though the loaner would not be able to pay it back since they couldn't profit from their investment in stocks.

Hoover's responded to the stock market crash by being laissez-faire, he responded to the Bonus Army by turning down their promised payment, and many Americans felt about his presidency. Hoover played an indirect role in the Great Depression because he believed it was not their problem. The Bonus Army was promised a payment after a war but Hoover denied them due to the stock market crash which made the veterans furious. The way Hoover responded to the stock market crash made the Americans uneasy and angered about his presidency because of his actions.

Roosevelt took steps to provide relief and reform during the Great Depression by the Federal Housing Administration, Home Owner's Loan Corporation, and Social Security Acts. To help provide relief, the Federal Housing Administration was created to help regulate mortgages and having conditions which played a major role. Another reform Roosevelt made was the Home Owner's Loan Corporation which was expected to help create many foreclosures. His critics believed that the programs would threaten individualism because many Americans would depend too much on the government. The New Deal Program also made Roosevelt's critics believe that it would reduce American self-sufficiency because people wouldn't be able to find their own resources.

The legacies of the New Deal and Great Depressions are the Social Security Act, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Federal National Mortgage Association. The Social Security Act remained as one of the legacies because it provides benefits to 60 million Americans that were or are dealing with poverty. The federal Deposit Insurance Corporation remains as an important program because they insured banks and allowed banks to pay insurance premiums to guarantee their customer's deposits. The Federal National Mortgage Association helped many people in the 1930's by financing loans of GIs and today, they are publicly held companies that finance millions of home purchases.
