Figurative language was big in this book. Sam and father use it mostly, but Tim also did.
On page 16 the text states ..." He'll lead us through the Lobsterbacks like a hot knife through butter." Which is a example of a simile.
On page 22 Tim states " I can hear father breath as he have climbed a mountain." which is a example of a metaphor.
On page 54 the text states "...Thump thump." Which is a example of Onomatopoeia.

Book review

I believe this was overall a good novel. Why I say this, because they had real life examples. I believe the book would of been better if is had a better ending. One thing I liked about the novel is they didn't sugar code anything. Example is in chapter 14 the text states, " Tim cry's out, ''don't shoot him!" Shots ring out, and Sam writhes on the ground , jerking, on fire from the shots and still alive. Quickly, one of the soldiers shoots again and Sam stop moving." That tells me instead of them saying Sam died they gave me brutal details. Also, what I dislike about the novel is they didn't talk as much about Tim mother. It's like she's kind of irrelevant,. If she had more of a opinion the novel will be more interesting. Other than that, the novel was very successful and detailed.
