Regarding work, we already see some changes caused by A.I.: many old tasks are carried out by machines. But this doesn't mean there will be no job for humans, there will just be different jobs. Humans will take the jobs that can't be done by machines. Of course there will be some trouble in the transition phase, this is why our students must be prepared. What they should learn better is what A.I. can or can't do, in order to find their own possible roles and opportunities. Some skills may become obsolete in the future, but others may be the most useful. Since we are not sure of which ones, as more skills they develop, as better they can adapt in any new change. A.I . should be the perfect partnership between man and "something else" and the main task would be the transition to a planet with new rules. UBI sounds great but living a meritocratic society and having survived communism I have many questions regarding the distribution of goods. Furthermore, I guess that the job market will go through dramatic changes and we are very ill prepared for the future.
I firmly believe that we need better control on AI but our current legislators do not seem suitable for this task.

I believe it’s too early to talk about an AI singularity, where robots take over the world and make mankind obsolete. Recently, there have been essential advances in Artificial Intelligence, but there is a long way to meet up such AI implementations like those we see in SCI-FI movies.

Anyway, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the AI will not change our lives at all. I think we first will feel the effects in manufacturing. At the end of the 20th century, we felt it roughly with the production lines. It deeply re-formed our lifestyles and created a brand new workers class. A similar change is waiting for us with the techs like “ Deep Machine Learning and Machine-2-Machine Communication”. I believe, even if the robots or the machines take over the control in manufacturing, there will always be a human sitting behind a “kill switch”.

As the AI revolution will not occur in one day, people will get used to live with it, like we got used to live with computers, internet or other smart devices. I think this is a part of human evolution.

Last but not least, people shouldn’t fear of the advances in AI, we will figure out a way to fit AI in our lives. I believe humans have an excellent adaptation capability.

To begin with, I believed AI was a bit over done. The actual day of robots doing a majority of our jobs and driverless cars driving us around didn't seem even realistic. However, when I begun to think about the how small changes over time lead to greater advancements - I began to realize that instead of looking for monumental changes, we need to understand the tidal wave effect of small changes over time. So the point is: is the mankind ready for it, in terms of education and preparation for the new challenges? Of course no! Schools have to be updated, teachers are old and often stuck and resistant to change.

Therefore, the resistance to old habits and problems because of this fast changes will be quite unpredictable and difficult.

1. The practical implication, where many of the repetitive jobs, especially in industry and agriculture, will be replaced by machines that are almost self-absorbed. This will imply that humans should be trained in different skills: programming machines, supervising production, designing improvements, solving non-logistical problems etc.

Well, my thought regarding the future of STEM and innovations is absolutely positive.
I remember my days at CERN, while working with a group of physicists from across the globe (HST 2009), we thought of the last 50-60 years of innovations which has given us the power to accelerate our understanding of the universe and the worlkd around us.
AI as it stands today, will be a force to reckon with. Flying cars, driver less and efficient public transport system, efficient health care at your fingertips, remote robotic surgery, etc. just to name (and what we can think of as of today) a few.
But, most importantly for us, I see a great future of teaching/learning using AI and STEM.
It is about time, when we change the way world thinks.

Our planet is fragile and exposed to the confusion of the universe. Just a big meteor crash here. Just a violent earthquake happen. Just one big tsunami. Just a super hurricane and everything goes through the air. And the wars? And where will government policies lead us? Which ideologies will prevail? The future is as uncertain today as it was in the Roman empire. Schools will always be heavily dependent on national governments to define school curricula. Students will always be dependent on the opportunities available in their country's schools. The poorer will have fewer opportunities than the rich (since ancient times this has never changed). Today's teachers should look at technology as one more tool and should use it creatively by engaging it in their classroom work, providing students with opportunities to interact creatively with it.

Artificial Intelligence is something people are afraid of but all technology has pros and cons. This field is really new in our lives so it is usual to get scared of things that change too fast for us. But we have to accept our world is changing and AI makes our lives really easy, just imagine “we don’t even have to think” :D It could be hard for us but with AI human intelligence will be focus on harder things. For example, with AI we don’t have to think correctly about grammar while we are texting with a foreign friend with a new language for us. AI can replace in factories and that kind of power requiring or making simple decisions. When we imagine AI replace all these kind of things, human must to focus on just “creating” and then manual work will become unnecessary except crafting with an ability. All these things are pros of AI but about cons, I can be afraid of like every humankind.

If we think about education, I don’t think that we have power to make students full ready fot 4^th industrial revolution. We just must make them ready for surviving and being successful uncertainty. We just have to teach them how to adopt to changes like evolution always did and will do.

AI according to my opinion is a controversial issue that concerns more and more people. It certainly makes human life easier and smarter but what will happen if AI reaches up to a level and functions exactly like the human brain? We all have different ideas about the AI. Some are optimistic about it because they think it will open new doors and help us to improve in many fields. The others are pessimistic because they think it can be dangerous and also in so many fields it can cause unemployment. However, humans will remain humans and machines will remain machines. And as by Asimov the machines will serve the humans, else Laws are violated!!. AI is not an utopic attempt of the human to play God to create intelligent entities due to his vanity. Rather, is a leap of technology to create something intelligent (as by human's standards!!) to do what he should. The evolution of Technology is very important for a better life, and in the school gives the opportunity to the students to see and analyze the world in a thousand facets.

I still feel like these changes are far away. I cannot imagine a wold where people do not work. What would they do? Well, I could use my time for travelling, etc. But would I have the oppurtunity, the money, the tools? Too many questions and most of them cannot be answered until we are actually there. We just try to follow the changes and react tas fast as we can, prepare the next generation the best way we can think of.

There are jobs who have to be done by humans (teachers, doctors, psychologists, artists etc.). I'm sure that there will always be people who antagonize against the trend of AI in different types of our life. I can recommend the satirical-distopia book "[e]quality land" by Mark-Uwe Kling to my German colleagues!

I think that we must make a great change in a way we think about jobs and education and make a shift in producing students that already have no place in job market. We alreadly have this problem in Croatia. There is over-production of e.g. economists lawyers, for years... but we don't have a place for them. Technology will just make some jobs redundant and make us to see some other new jobs as important. Adaptation!

I think this generation of children is already way past today's teaching methods. Teachers have to keep up with them and their rapid development and learning skills. In the future, when artificial intelligence will take over, everything will change. All traditional methods of teaching will dissapear, maybe even teachers. Basic jobs will be done by machines and everything will happen in fast forward. It will be hard to keep up, especially for the elderly.

I like the idea of artificial intelligence but I wonder how the education system will cope with it. It still has problems preparing pupils for the current jobs, lots of my students don’t know how to use a computer properly, lots of my colleagues use it to a minimum so they are not a good example for the learners. I’m coordinating a group of teachers in innovating their approach to teaching and though they are younger than I am it’s not easy to convince them that they have to try to shift from the traditional teacher-led lesson to approaches that support project-based learning and collaborative learning and promote the acquisition of 21^st century skills. If the introduction of AI is around the corner and it’s expected to be fast, it is necessary to allow teachers to update their methodologies otherwise the next generations will have troubles in adjusting to the changes that lie in store.
