In Germany Christmas is celebrated on the 24th December. It is the last day of the advent calendar and the start of the Christmas season.

People spend the afternoon and evening decorating Christmas trees, eating Christmas lunches and dinners and opening and receiving presents. In the morning they sleep until 12 o clock before they celebrate.

It is simaliar to what the do in England but they only do it after noon.

In church on the Christmas Eve there will be drumming and dancing.Children put on naivety plays, then choirs come out to sing. On Christmas Day the church is vey full and people come out wearing their traditional clothes. After they have been in the church they go back to their houses to give and receive gifts. Traditional food includes stew or orka soup, porridge, meats rice and some yam paste. In Slovakia the presents are brought by Jesus, a common tradition is that the children have to leave the room when Jesus are giving the present.
