Could we have a "blurb" that explains why a student would take the CogAT if they already have a valid NNAT score? Some parents in third grade are curious.

A: Yes, I can prepare that for us.

Does the BOG assess previous 2nd grade material or does it assess 3rd grade material not previously covered at the start of 3rd grade?

The NNAT is a screening tool that helps us cast a wide net for further assessment. The CogAt includes verbal, mathematical and visual spacial measures that help target students who are likely to need modifications in the classroom.

Soooo concerned about this, especially as an equity issue. Our underserved, ESL, other fragile students will not have had exposure to what they're being tested on. This feels very inappropriate and potentially harmful for some students.

A: This is a valid concern. Perhaps referring to some of the professional reads will offer support for this.

The BOG covers 3rd grade standards.

Moving forward we should not cut each other off or ignore someone's input. If one voice is heard all should be heard to allow an equal distribution of thoughts and ideas.

3rd grade - will some keep Nurturing label but no new label being given?

A: We discussed that "formal identification" ends with the new plan cycle.

At some point can we talk about how we are going to look at 2nd graders as we move into next year.

Correlation with ITBS

Please discuss with Diane Villwock the correlation between the ITBS at 2 grade levels above, normed to grade level for gifted id. versus giving ITBS at student's real grade level. Do these measures have the same results?
