The Aztecs reached their promised land in the middle of a lake in 1324 C.E. How did they build one of the most greatest cities the world has seen on a small island? "Using the simple, but ingenious method of pounding staked into the lake bed, and then lashing together with reeds, the Aztecs poured in mud and rocks to literally build themselves more land. They expanded their small island to a vast 2,500 acres." (https://youtu.be/_nS6MpVbB_g?t=54)

The Inca were settled in the Andes Mountains in 1230 C.E. They needed roads to pass through harsh conditions, such as deserts, snowy mountains, and vertical cliffs. "When terrain made conventional roads impossible, the Inca, once again came up with an ingenious solution. This is the stunning Keshwa Chaca bridge. It's made out of only this: straw, and it's been in use for hundreds of years, dating right back to the Inca period. (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02ftnss)

Paleolithic men were nomadic. They traveled place to place hunting for their food. They depended on the natural food supply in the given area. "But while Paleolithic men continued men continued their food-gathering pattern of existence in Europe, Africa, and Australia, groups of people in the Near East began to cultivate edible plants and to breed animals. Often described as the 'first economic revolution' in the history of man, this momentous change from a food-gathering to a food-producing economy initiated in the Neolithic Age."
(Document 2, https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pbjkzTuodb1NFZlDHLZ_M3i1VamOZTA9zoJ-EPjtG-8/edit?usp=sharing)

Louis decided to work without an advisor, ruling the throne alone. He believed he was a representative of God which gave him the right to control the government by himself. He worked hard to control France amongst other colonies. He created an absolute monarchy. He fought wars against the Spanish Netherlands and the English. He fought wars for territory and power. He domesticated nobles so he could be in power without them in the way. He also gathered everything under his palace to centralize power. Lastly, Louis intensified persecution of Protestants. He declared that the majority of France should convert to Christianity if not already. He had power over religion in France during his reign.

The Catholic Counter Reformation

When the Church was challenged during the Protestant Reformation, the Church lashed back in harsh ways. This was the Catholic Counter Reformation. They punished people who were accused of having Protestant beliefs. The people accused ("Heretics") were people reading "forbidden texts," such as Martin Luthers 95 thesis. They could also have just been people practicing other faiths. They were tortured and sometimes killed. This was used to instill fear to the people; they scared people into obeying the church to keep themselves in power. The church also create the Council of the Trench which stopped the selling of indulgences and stopped the lavish lifestyles of church leaders. Whilst those things were good, it still doesn't excuse the harsh punishments of others in the past. The church was still in power, but they slowly learned to stay focused on their beliefs rather than political power.

"On January 6th, 2021, the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., was stormed during a riot and violent attack against the U.S. Congress. A mob of supporters of President Donald Trump attempted to overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election by disrupting the joint session of Congress assembled to count electoral votes to formalize Joe Biden's victory. Called to action by Trump, thousands of his supporters gathered in Washington, D.C., on January 5 and 6 in support of his false claim that the 2020 election had been 'stolen' from him, and to demand that Vice President Mike Pence and Congress reject Biden's victory. Starting at noon on January 6, at a 'Save America' rally on the Ellipse, Trump repeated false claims of election irregularities and said, 'If you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore.' During his speech, thousands of attendees walked to the Capitol, and hundreds breached police perimeters, as Congress was beginning the electoral vote count."
The people who stormed the Capitol threw a fit in an attempt to keep Trump in power.
