I think it is important to be open to approaching challenges and making connections not only within the IB curriculum, but to take our learning into a different environment, which will further help us with challenges related to real life skills. In order to apply and really understand the theoretical knowledge, one has to imbed it in a different context to see the importance and relevant of a certain area.

Even though projects may be fun and aid understanding it is more important to know about every Unit in depth for the IB exams. And since this is the only thing that counts (next to the project) I believe there should be a strong increase in out of book learning and quizzing.

Is Inquiry Good? I think inquiry and project based work is very appropriate for this course. It develops creative thinking and is hard working. It requires students to be hard working, determined, concentrated and is a good foundation for the design technology course. Although inquiry is positive, it is more important to develop the general understanding and knowledge of the course beforehand.

I think that it depends on the situation. An example of when Inquiry is a good way of learning is when doing the IB, as it gives a great insight of each units to understand them even better. With Inquiry based learning, students are able to further develop their thinking skills and other skills that are needed and useful today to have.

I think inquiry is essential for being successful in educational systems. It helps you to become an open minded individuals and work collaboratively with others. Real life problems allow us to have a better understanding of the material that we learn in class. It helps us make connections between the class room and outside activities. But it depends on the way an individual processes the information. You have to have a balance of skills in order to make these connections. I find it more effective than just studying the material on my own.

For the IB system this process is helpful - it allows a student to get a full understanding of the topics. Projects are helpful since theory might differentiate from the actual process in some cases. Balance of the two is best.

I believe that creative projects are great for students who take initiative and know how to manage their time wisely. Personally I wish that we would have done unit by unit and then have a quiz at the end as this is how one can be assured that everything has been understood and this is the core of the DT IB exams. I hoped in 11th grade that the projects would involve using machinery and tools not just sketching and researching things on the internet.

I believe that project-based work allows for the development of important skills, such as conceptual thinking and independent learning. I think that projects allow students to make links between course materials in a setting that is more interesting for the learner. This is because projects allow students to apply the knowledge they learn in class to real life situations, thereby allowing them to further explore their interests and passions.

Inquiry through projects are a interactive and interesting way to learn. But outside of the final DT project learning textually, from the book is more effective.

I am personally fine with inquiry through project-based learning, but I think a good balance of text book work AND projects can be much more beneficial. Inquiry based learning can allow students to develop certain skills and allow us to become familiar with a subject or topic in a fun way, but sometimes reading and writing can also help.

Students can in theory only listen concentratedly for 20 minutes, hence also the limited times on ted talks. I think having said this, that it is important to have a mixture of learning approaches. I think it is very important that people learn through doing. Of course listening is important too.

I think that inquiry work can effectively help students to develop their skills in researching and reinforce their ability to become a self learner. To work on a project-based project can help individual to develop their thinking skill and work independently throughout the project. As an result, the student might aquire more achievements and skills than learning the theory from books. On the other side, there are also significant advantage in learning based on textbooks. Coming from a country that teaches most of the knowledge from textbook, I gained solid knowledge by reciting and practising. It is an efficient way of learning knowledge, however, student miss the opportunity to look up researches by themselves.
