Currently, Linda lives in Tegucigalpa, but she’s from Santa Rosa de Copán. When I was a child, every Sunday we went to church with my family to the Cathedral of Santa Rosa. I remember we were always late because my brother was the one who took the longest to get ready. There were seven of us: my four brothers, my dad, my mom, and me. We were a big family, so it was hard to be on time. My dad was always upset when we arrived late. We went in a small red Chevrolet. I still don’t know how we all fit in there. When we arrived, my dad used to tell us that at the end of mass, he was going to ask us what it was about to see if we had paid attention. He also said he would give us a prize. I remember I won it once. The best thing about Sundays was that my dad cooked. He made soups or what we called “dad’s food.” It was mostaza con huevo, frijoles parados, tortillas, and chicharrones. I loved eatng that, especially with the whole family together. These days, we don’t do that anymore because my dad is no longer with us, but we always try to do something on Sundays to get together. And every time I remember those Sundays, I feel happy.
