It has been quite a task getting organized this week. Gate has proven to be a tedious chore so I only got through with my registration late last week. Looking at the syllabus, it seems pretty interesting and one which will push me to do more outside my comfort zone, starting with the padlet as I am not techno inclined. I have two other subjects so time management will have to be very strict. Looking forward to the rest of the semester.
Michelle
dn

Hi sir

Week 1

This week has been the most hectic of all my semesters so far. It really tested my strength and endurance as all three subjects I am studying gave very testing assignments in the first week. My laptop also is in the repair shop so I have been staying in work after hours to complete my assignments.

All in all, I have reached the end of the week and the feeling of accomplishment is great.

The topic the Research Paper may seem very dull and tedious but in reality it can be the difference between presenting a good paper and an excellent paper. Getting to know the components of the paper was enlightening and thinking about it, if I possessed this knowledge before I am sure my presentations would have been much more proficient and professionally done.

Looking forward to next week.

Regards

Michelle

Week 2 ending Feb 10, 2018
Hi . It has been a good week. I had a bit of trouble identifying exactly what the discussion question was pertaining to, but after I posted and read some pf my peers especially Fiona's which was in a table format, I understood where I was off. I think I will use this Carnival weekend to do some reading. Survey Design is a unique subject for me and in all honesty I never expected it to be so challenging. So it is challenging, but it is also encouraging me to push myself.
As to how it fits into my every day-life, I"m not sure but it does make you more aware of the relationships of the things and people around you and how you fit into that picture
Onto Next Week.
Michelle

Hi Miss
I missed Last week's reflection because it seems I could not log on at home. I'm only getting access to my padlet account at work. ? Last week with the oral presentation, it was tough but we survived. I was not able to do the weekly discussion but I made sure to attempt it this week. The survey instruments unit was interesting. As we applied it to out research paper it made you realize how important these statistics are and also, how not so easy it is to get them. The simple task of designing a questionnaire is very critical to getting the right information from the target base and this is what we take for granted. The right questions the right layout the right tone, these all are important to producing a good questionnaire. All in all this week was very informative, getting the research paper started and organized as well as the unit itself.
Onto next week.

It has been a very trying week, especially with mid terms on Tuesday, But I guess this is what makes you stronger. I got my feedback on my first draft and intend to do some tweaking as well as try to submit my second draft by Tuesday. This week's unit on sampling designs was very informative for me. Knowing the different sample designs and when and how to use them made me aware of all the research topics that can be explored using the right techniques so that there is no skewing of information by using over or under representations. I an not too sure about the design I chose for my research topic ( snowball) which is crime and which involves a tricky environment but I will consult with My tutor for advice. Thanks much for the week. Michelle

Hi Sir
I'm doing the padlet from work so I'll try next week again to fix my padlet problems. With regards to the Unit topic, Data collection procedures and challenges, it was most enlightening to discover the number of steps and procedures involved to create and organize an effective survey collection document. From the budget , staffing recruitment to the actual conduct of the survey, it is quite critical to get the document done correctly because there may not be second chances.
The human element of this plays a crucial part in the responses you receive to feedback and analysis of the data. It was a very interesting topic and I will attempt to impart what i have learnt in my Research Paper. Much thanks
Michelle

Week ending April 1, 2018
Data Processing. This chapter has been very informative. Learning about Editing and Coding and relating them to our research paper was enlightening as has all the previous topics that we have linked to our research . Understanding the importance of open ended questions and how they should be coded to ensure that their is no bias or there is no preconceived code already existing in our mind to create inconsistencies in what was actually reported and what was coded, will be very helpful when we begin to analyze our report. The week has been very stressful with deadlines for other subjects but in all it has been a good week as what was set out to be done was accomplished.

Regards
Michelle
