mother tongue is more than what we use as a medium to communicate with one another. it carries our identity with us serving the same purpose like our identification card. let us take our country Malaysia as an clear example. our country did not set a forced rules where every person who enters this country must be able to speak and understand "Bahasa Malaysia". Every person who steps into Malaysia are not chained to follow the Malaysian's custom but allowed to follow the individual's own custom freely.Malaysia is a multiracial country, but, it is in the rules where if the individual is planing to work in Malaysia, one must able to speak and understand "Bahasa Malaysia" fluently. This set of rules does actually make sense i would personally agree to this. We cannot be expecting to speak each person's native language in our own country. Malaysia found a solution to this problem but setting English as the second medium of communication to be used around Malaysia, a language widely used by most of the country now days. Conclusion, every individual shouldn't exchange their culture for the sake of country's way of life as they have the right to keep it, at the same time, if the individual is planning on working in the country, they should learn to be flexible in the chosen country.

As well known, Malaysia is a democratic country. We have many types of languages that are spoken, although the public language is Bahasa Malaysia. But the citizens here are still allowed to maintain their own religion and private language. In my opinion, we should also learn the public language besides our own. This is because, more than 60% of the population in Malaysia is muslims. Automatically, most of them speak Bahasa Malaysia more compared to English. By learning and mastering their language as well, communication could be done easier. Also, there would be a sense of unity among the citizens. There would be times when you would really need to use that language. For an example, when you need help from someone and that person doesn't understand English at all, so here is where you apply the public language which is Bahasa Malaysia. In conclusion, learning the public language is as important as learning our private language because both plays a role in our life.

Language is important in our daily life. Language helps express our feelings , desire , emotions , queries and much more. Almost every country allows the usage of variety of languages. In Sabah which is one of the province in Malaysia uses much variety of language. From Kadazan , Dusun , Lotud , Bisaya , Murut and more. Even though the main language in Malaysia is Bahasa Melayu, the people are not restrained from using their local language freely. It is still very important to learn the main language as it is the main medium to be used in court or writing a letter to any organization and so on. Another reason to learn another language is, not everyone understand what we are trying to say. To wrap things up, to learn and understand the main language is greatly important as well as our private language so that we know where is our root.

Malaysia is a multi-ethnic and multi-lingual nation made up from the the malay, chinese and indians communities and many smaller minor communities including the kadazans, ibans, and punjabis. The facts that Malaysia is a cultural diversity also made the country special. I don't fully agree that the citizens of Malaysia have full freedom in the form of human rights, we have seen the government trying to abolish chinese and indian schools which force some of the chinese and indians to give up being educated in their mother tongues to enter english school in the past. Despite all of that, the will of the individuals trying to protect ones language and culture made it so that we are still allowed to keep and practice our culture and speak our mother tongue despite Malay as first language of the country. But learning to communicate in Malay is crucial for living at Malaysia. Even immigrants are able to understand simple instructions given by their upper ups because they have no choice. Being able to keep ones culture is important in preserving traditions down generations.

As we all know, we communicate by using language that each of us can understand. In Malaysia, our first language is Bahasa Malaysia but that doesn't mean you can't use your own mother tongue because there are so many races with different languages. It's very important for you to keep your own language because it helps you to communicate with your family and races. However, I think that we should also master the world communication language, english . We can use english to empower yourself and next generation. Speaking with english language can open up so many opportunities in your life in many aspects such as your career and communication. For example, companies will offer you a higher position job because you can communicate well with their client to convince them to invest for the company. Next, you're able to go overseas without worrying on how to communicate with the people. In conclusion, we have to learn english but don't forget our main language, it's important for us to treasure our first language as part of culture. Be bilingual is fun!
