In 2016 & 2017 staff at Hillpark school we explored Assessment for Learning:
Capability 1- 'Building Learning Focused Relationships
Capability 2- Clarity- 'Being Clear about what is to be learnt'
Capability 3- Assessment Literacy- Self and Peer Assessment
Capability 4- Promoting further Learning'- Effective Feedback. Today's workshop is designed for new staff and staff who didn't participate in the PLD .Today's session is an opportunity for you to 'catch up' on the PLD and to be evaluative of the 'shifts' that have occured in your teaching practice using the AfL evaluative rubric - Combined Teacher and Student capabilities Combined matrix

1. Learning-Focused Relationships:
- Students need to know how they learn best, what they need to learn, and how to avoid those things that stop them from learning. I think mine have an idea - needs consolidation.
- Teacher is a facilitator; enabling and empowering students to engage in deep learning. Am I doing this? How do I know? I can't shrug the idea that I still need to care about my students as people, AS WELL AS their learning, which I do, but is it too much care? Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs - how does this fit in???
2. Clarity About Learning: Lesson Structure (What I Hope to Achieve)
- LI: global and specific; WHAT we are learning?
- Why: establishing relevance; WHY are we learning this?
- Model: good (to aspire to); bad (to avoid); HOW do we learn this?
- SC: How will we know we have
met the LI? How will we show our understanding of our learning? What evidence will we see in our work that will show we have learnt this?

It would have been helpful to know this earlier as one term has gone so fast and I could have established and implemented this already.

Feeling swamped but motivated to dig deeper into learning focused relationships in my class. I think I have a much clearer understanding about what is needed from me as the teacher to establish this in my classroom effectively. I am looking forward to diving into this straight away with my children as I think that I have touched very lightly on the surface of learning focused relationships in my class. I can recognise the needs my children have in regards to where their next learning steps are headed and the clarity from these two concepts has helped me understand my next learning steps as a teacher too. The last 10 weeks have flown by and its a concern to me that I haven't established these strategies already as I feel like the term has been almost a 'waste' of valuable learning time. It has also opened up my awareness to how and what other teachers are currently feeling in regards to this.

Feeling motivated to build more in depth learner focused relationships within my classroom. I am more confident when It comes to modelling for my students and sharing LI and SC. I can recognise the needs of my students but I need to recognise them as a whole rather than have my class divided into ability groups for curriculum subjects. Today has shown me how important it is to treat our students as one and that every student has the potential to learn.

Certain key words and concepts I had forgotten, including use of the word 'yet'. I am really happy now to be sitting on a much stronger idea of the difference between GLI's and other LI's. I will amend/update my planning on One Note ...and my practice. My Dinosaur Learning Pit is running very well. I am happy to have made progress in this direction. I am very open minded about where to go next. The discussions we have had about mixed groups etc was very interesting. I want things to go in this direction. Refreshing. And refreshing!
