Gustavo Cerati along with his band Soda Stereo, are one of the most popular and influential Spanish-language rock and pop groups of the 1980s and ’90s. He is the recipient of many awards throughout his career including various Grammys, MTV awards, as well as the MTV (Latin America) Legend Award with Soda Stereo, the first of its kind. 
On 15 May 2010, he is suffering a stroke, following his performance in Caracas, Venezuela. He is at the hospital La Trinidad (medical center), in Caracas under medical surveillance and three days later, he is in a surgery to relieve pressure on his brain due to the stroke he suffered. After that, on 7 June 2010, he is transferred to the FLENI Neurological Institute in Buenos Aires. Doctors immediately treated him for a respiratory tract infection and the following day, they are reporting extensive brain damage due to the stroke. Gustavo Cerati falls into a coma. After four years in a coma, he is dieding at the age of 55 from respiratory arrest on the morning of 4 September 2014. His body is being buried at La Chacarita Cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
