Federalism is the separation of powers between the federal government and the state government. This is clearly defined in the United States Constitution by stating the powers given in the Constitution are the responsibility of the Federal Government to uphold and the States reserve the right to choose on anything that is not explicitly stated.

This is a topic that is subjected to mass misinformation from legacy media as an attempt to paint a narrative that is not exactly the case. The argument that electing a certain president will result in a nationwide ban of anything is very highly unlikely and it would be unconstitutional. The federal government has no say in the actions of states in and their healthcare systems besides through the reimbursement structure. Through Medicare and Medicaid, the federal government is able to overstep their rights given to them due to the compliance of states for financial gain. Essentially the healthcare systems should be subject to state law over federal law with the exception of a need for federal intervention due to a constitutional violation.
