For my social media dialogue, I had to create a modern-day post from Beatrice. I used the portion of the play when Hero and Claudio have just gotten married and Beatrice and Benedick are discussing their feelings for each other and how they want to get married. When discussing this through their usual banter, Benedick states that he heard Beatrice was "almost sick for [Benedick]." Beatrice then says that she heard he was "well-nigh dead for [Beatrice]." These quotes represent the relationship between these two people, which is a huge part of Beatrice's character/character development and story. She grows as a person and learns to read and understand her feelings. Her personality begins to shine through in more ways than just quick, snappy remarks. If we let people into our lives and hearts, beautiful and sometimes unexpected things can happen.

For this project, I made an Instagram post about Beatrice. I used the scene when she overheard Hero and Ursula in the garden, talking about how Benedick loves her and wants to be with her. When Benedick hears that Beatrice loves him he thinks that "a man loves the meat in his youth that he cannot endure in his age". Meaning, that even though someone used to like something or dislike something, their opinions on it can change as they grow. When Beatrice overhears that Benedick loves her she is overjoyed. She thinks that if "Benedick, loves on; she will requite thee, taming her wild heart to thy loving hand." This means that if Benedick continues to love her she will return that love and love him back. Throughout this play, Beatrice and Benedick go through different stages together when they are experiencing different emotions about each other. In the end, they figure out that it is easier to love than to fight.

For this project, I created a Spotify playlist as part of creating a modern-day digital footprint for the character Beatrice. The inspiration for this playlist was her rocky relationship throughout the story, and even what happened between them before the events of the storyline, and all the ways that Beatrice contradicts the way women were expected to act, and how fierce she is. One example of her struggle with Benedick is portrayed in the first Act when the soldiers arrive in Messina, and immediately pick a fight with benedick, "Scratching could not make it worse, an 'twere such a face as yours were.", which line up with the songs, We Are Never Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift, and Rolling in the Deep by Adele, because Beatrice makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with Benedick as a result of an event that must have happened between them in the past, and she now resents him. The other selection of songs represented her boldness, courage, and feminist ideals. The quote, "Yes, faith; it is my cousin's duty to make curtsy and say 'Father, as it please you.' But yet for all that, cousin, let him be a handsome fellow, or else make another curtsy and say 'Father, as it please me.", which shows that Beatrice has her own ideas of what marriage should be based on, and who it should benefit, and how she has no intention of marrying for someone else's happiness. In the end, Beatrice proves herself to be caring, more than most people think, she swallows her pride and admits her love for Benedick, and defends Hero's honor for a long as she can.
It is always important to know your place in the world and being able to realize when your place should be higher, and equal to others is crucial, and the willingness to fight for equality, especially gender equality, is very important in order to establish a sense of place, and that you're ideas and beliefs are just as important as the person sitting next to you.

For our project, I had the amazon assignment. We were assigned Beatrice, a bold, strong, independent woman who still needs help at times. Although Beatrice is independent she still finds love in Benedict. For example "I love you with so much of my heart that none is left to protest." (Beatrice act 4 scene 1). One of the items I chose for Beatrice was a wedding ring to symbolize their love for each other because Benedick is a big part of Beatrice's character. My next quote "I was not born under a rhyming planet" (Benedict act 5 scene 2) This quote shows Benedict struggling to rhyme while writing a poem for Beatrice. In the modern-day I imagine her buying him a rhyming book so he won't struggle writing those romantic poems. Beatrice learns a lot throughout the play she grows as a character and learns what love is. She grasps the idea that she can still be independent, but have feelings for someone at the same time. Sometimes love can be confusing and we see Beatrice trying to navigate the way she feels towards Benedict.
