         <title>What is a Wave, Anyways?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>    A wave is a traveling oscillation that has properties of frequency(how often something repeats, expressed in hertz), wavelength(the distance from any point of a wave to the same point in the next cycle of the wave, and amplitude(the amount that a cycle moves away from an equilibrium). To put it simply, a wave is any disturbance that transmits energy through matter or space.  An oscillation is a movement back and forth at a regular speed. There are three main different types of mechanical waves-  longitudinal waves, transverse waves, and surface waves.<br>  A slinky is a great way to describe a wave. When the slinky is stretched from end to end and is held at rest, it assumes a natural position known as the equilibrium or rest position. The coils of the slinky naturally assume this position, spaced equally far apart. The act of moving the first coil of the slinky in a given direction and then returning it to its equilibrium position creates a disturbance in the slinky. <br><br></div>]]></description>
