The linguistic accommodations have changed for my EB students by using less translation in the first language. The domains have changed in the listening, speaking and writing categories.

My instruction has changed from using the objective as the main assessment to then small group to now using the supporting objectives that can help students such as their vocabulary.

I have increased the usage of anchor charts and visual models for my students to reference as the year goes on. This has helped my EBs increase their academic vocabulary and grow more confident in their math skills

The supports needed for students to continue to be successful is a lot of class and pair discussions. Providing them with more visuals (anchor charts and vocabulary).

Parents need information from experts in the field. Also we need more experiences to use language as a way to connect.

Students are more vocal and open to sharing and discussing topics in class. Students were very shy at the beginning of the semester with very little knowledge of grade level vocabulary. Through lessons and vocabulary, they were able to learn more and share with more academic vocabulary.

I have always relied heavily on translating (which is very helpful), however the use of language objectives have been another way of setting intentions for EB students.

Having students make connections in L1 and L2. Allowing students to feel comfortable asking questions im their native language to ensure they are still understanding.
