The Historic Center of Quito is located in the heart of the city, surrounded by mountains and hills. From the main square, you can see the impressive Presidential Palace standing next to the Metropolitan Cathedral. The streets around the plaza are narrow and paved with stones, lined with colorful colonial buildings. Vendors sell crafts and snacks under umbrellas, while musicians perform in front of churches and plazas. Small cafés and shops are found along the winding streets, inviting visitors inside to enjoy local flavors. The Basilica of the National Vow rises tall above the rooftops and is visible from many parts of the center. Hidden courtyards lie behind old wooden doors, offering quiet spaces between the busy streets. The Church of San Francisco stands across from a large plaza where people gather around fountains and statues. Benches placed beside trees allow visitors to rest on shady spots. Balconies decorated with flowers hang over the sidewalks, adding color to the historic streets. Walking through the center, you pass by art galleries and museums tucked within ancient buildings. At night, lanterns glow softly above the plazas, creating a magical atmosphere in this vibrant neighborhood.
