I believe my responsibilities as a teacher are to make sure that every student feels welcome, loved, accepted, and valued. I want to create a classroom community that all students will feel safe coming to and will encourage learning. It is my responsibility to respect my students, their cultures, and their beliefs. It was mentioned in this week's reading that children learn a lot about expected morals and how to behave in society in elementary school, therefore I feel a responsibility to show my students how to be kind and respectful to each other both in and out of my classroom.

I believe that learning is accomplished by everyone, regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic class. Everyone can learn, and everyone deserves the opportunity to learn in a way that meets their needs and helps them become the best versions of themselves. As discussed in this week's reading, there are many socioeconomic and cultural factors that can affect a student's education. These students do not just need an equal opportunity for their education, but they also need an equitable education. Because all students come from different backgrounds and learn differently, they do not all need the same education or instruction to ensure learning.

I believe that teaching is about making students feel heard, valued, and loved, while also helping them grow into the best versions of themselves. I want my classroom to be a safe space for all of my students where they can feel like they have a voice and can be themselves. Similarly, I want them to feel like valued members of my classroom community and to know that they can talk to me about anything. As we discussed in class, there are many social goals of schooling that appear in the classroom, such as manners and morals. Just as I want to make my students feel heard, valued, and loved, I want them to make each other feel that way too. I want to encourage an atmosphere of respect so that we can all have a positive experience in my classroom.

I believe the purpose of schooling is to educate the next generation that will govern and live in our society. We will be shaping the minds and characters of our students and helping them to grow into the best versions of themselves. I think this all goes back to the three goals of schooling. The purpose of schooling is political, social, and economical. Schooling teaches children how to be a part of something larger and how to behave in a democracy. it is also provides opportunities for students to get jobs once they leave school, which in turn helps the economy. Finally, it influences morals, beliefs, and social behavior.

I believe all my future students are capable learners and valuable members of my classroom. I want all of my students to know and believe that they are intelligent and great learners. I've heard so many stories about teachers telling students that they're not good enough and putting the idea into their heads that they're not smart or not good at a particular subject, but I never want to be that teacher. Things like that can affect a person for their rest of their life, and its unfortunate that it comes from someone who should be giving them support and building their confidence. I also want all of my students to feel like they are valuable members of my classroom community. I want them to know that their thoughts and opinions are respected and deserve to be heard.

I believe students learn best when they care about and understand the importance of what they're learning. Making lessons culturally relevant is so important in order to create a deeper level of understanding and allow students to connect to what they're learning. Choosing literature that features characters of other cultures and backgrounds allows students from those same cultures and backgrounds to see themselves in what they're reading as well as relate to it. Similarly, story problems in math can be centered around the community or the students' lives, which will make them more interesting and allow the student to see the real-world use of those math skills. Including students' cultures and lives into the curriculum will also show them that their cultures and backgrounds are valued and that they definitely have a place in the classroom.

I believe my students will learn best when I take the time to get to know them and their needs. I want to create a positive classroom community, starting with building good relationships with my students. They need to feel safe, welcome, and cared for. Once I know them, I can adjust my lessons and my teaching to help them succeed and get the most out of their education. As we've learned in other classes, making lessons relevant can be a huge help in creating engagement and fostering learning. Students learn best when they can relate to what they're learning and feel like there is value in it.

I believe community/family is different and important to everyone, and is a great way to keep students engaged and make them feel welcome in the classroom. By inviting students to talk about their communities and families, they will feel more valued and like educators care about them. Building relationships with my future students is very important to me, and one of the first steps in doing that is getting to know about the communities my students live in and what their families are like. This will also allow me to make my lessons more meaningful and relevant to them, as well as help me to figure out what works best for each student and what their individual needs are.

I believe collaboration is encouraging students to use their prior funds of knowledge to create something or work together. Every student is different and comes to school with different knowledge and experiences that can be used as tools to facilitate their learning and help them to help challenge and build off of each other. Collaboration will allow everyone to feel like a valued part of the classroom community, as well as teach them how to work well with others, which is a skill that will be very useful throughout their entire lives.

My classroom will be made of up of students from different backgrounds than me, and the issues that affect may not directly affect me, but it is important for to still be aware of them and help in any way that I can. In one of my other classes, we've talked a lot about teaching kids to read and write for social justice, which is something that is so crucial for students to learn and be engaged in.
