I feel that the insurrection could've been stopped before it even happened. I think that the aftermath of January 6th is mainly focused on putting those who were involved and in charge of the insurrection on the Capitol Building. A moment that stands out to me is how it took so long for the National Guard to arrive at the Capitol and help when people were storming the Capitol there was no backup sent until hours later.

I believe that the confirmation of the electoral votes and the safety of everyone in the Capitol building were at stake. Why was there no backup sent until hours later? Was there any evidence that supported Trump's claim of "stolen votes"? I think politicians should raise the security and give security at least protective gear to protect our democratic institutions.

They yell treason as they bash in the windows of the capital and not only believe but preach the fact that Trump lost the election even though he lost by 8 million votes, a number of votes too hard to fake without anyone noticing. A moment that stood out to me was when the security guard had was screaming because his head was jammed between a door frame... it shows how little security was there, genuinely not enough for the protest size which was pre-determined to be big, so my question was weren't there more guard/security on duty?

This gives of the notion that anyone who can round up enough dumb-asses can take over the capital of the whole fucking country.

I think it’s crazy that something like that was basically allowed to happen after they knew. It shows what they really think after all the BLM protests were tried to be stopped before they even start when most of them were just trying to be heard. On January 6th they weren’t trying to be heard they wanted to be destructive because they were mad at the truth. Something that stood out to me was how most of these people were contradicting themselves without even knowing for example carrying 'blue lives matter' flag while yelling things at the cops and police. The police would be praised when having to deal with BLM protests but all of a sudden they are pigs for trying to protect the capitol. It doesn’t make any sense.

Everyone who can had a chance to vote. Just because the one you wanted to win didn’t you want to go destroy, blame, and kill? I think whatever politicians do to try and be fair one side will always feel attacked or like they are getting the short side of the stick so I don’t know how we deal with that

I feel that the police could've done more to stop them, during BLM PEACEFUL protest they thew teargas and would hit and shoot them but during this raid they did the bare minimum. I believe its ironic how these people support the police when they fight and kill people when they peacefully protest but when the police fight against them from BREAKING INTO THE CAPITOL because they believe that the votes were rigged they call them traders. I feel that they are not doing everything they can when they defended the policemen that killed those innocent people because of the color of their skin, they did it so fast but are still trying to charge the people that caused such havoc of this day.

I believe this day really did help realize what side everyone was on and how far people are willing to go. This insurrection brought many questions about this country about why people believe supporting this man without any reason is right. Why did they feel it was so important to abuse, attack, and hurt the people who did nothing wrong, who were just trying to do their job. Why does this country fight against peaceful protest with everything they got but let these people into our capitol over wrongfully led accusations. Won't let people protest for the color of their skin for the right for ALL of us to be free but will let people fight for a sexist, racist, white man because he can't take a loss by 8 MILLION VOTES.

One thing that stood out to me in the video was when some guy outside the capitol trying to get in said "that's why we need guns" and I just think like if there were being aggressive enough then I wouldn't want to imagine what they would do with weapons like that just being violent and wanting things in their own way.

I feel like the safety and fairness was at stake that day. That day people died because of a situation that Trump started by filling their heads into thinking that there was a fraud in the votes. They didn't just accept that Trump had lost but they wanted him to win still and that was not fair for the majority of votes of people that chose who they wanted as their president. Why were people making chaos in a country that is literally theirs?? At this point they are just hurting their country and not letting other people give their opinions (in this case their right to choose who they want as a president) in a free country where we should all accept and not be violent about it. I feel like it was injustice to let all of the situation happen and not stop it before it even started getting more chaotic. Why would security not be there sooner if they saw that it was getting bad at the capitol?

I feel that January 6th could've been prevented long before it happened. Not only was info about the raid known and could'veeasily added more security or discouraged rioters from grouping in the first place, but also decisions like making these fake controversies about the votes would've easily lessened the raid at the very least. There were not enough counter-measures placed to the point where I feel like they wanted it to happen or something, it's that obvious.

We know that January 6th was marked as one of the most government violated days in history. Followers of Trump violently and forcefully entered the Capitol, infuriated with his recent loss in the election. This violent movement was fueled mainly by the speech Trump gave on that same day. Brainwashing his followers and connecting with their livelihoods as well to intensify their hatred towards those who stood within the Capitol. Migrating in groups, these Trump supporters violently pushed past the one or two security guards protecting the doors of the Capitol. They used strong language and forcefully pushed themselves through, leaving the few guards around injured. The police took a questionably long time to make a presence at the "protest". This day left only 7 dead "protestors" but 140 injured officers. This day then led to the second impeachment of Donald Trump which is the first.

Throughout the entirety of the video, I was just shocked at the lack of police presence. Not to turn this into a race thing, but I guarantee if it had been people of color, the police interference would have been very different. They dared to call this violent riot a "protest" but put many lives in danger. This insurrection scared me for the future of our country. If our country is being torn down from our own people, and it was that easy to enter one of the most sacred places for our country, how strong are we truly? This video shocked me in every way. People were using harsh and derogatory language, yet when people of color happen to do the slightest portion of their actions, they would simply be killed. It was embarassing and quite honestly, it showed the superiority of the White Man in America. Only 7 "protestors" dead while 140 officers injured? Does that not infuriate you? People of color have died for far less. It was the most maddening video I've ever seen.

It exposed some of our countries darkest realities. The injustice and the unfairness of the days following that day appalled me. Was there any action taken against these "protestors"? If not, why not? They breached a sacred place during a very important political meeting. The government needs to do better for real!

From what we know as of today January 6th was a semi planned semi improvised insurrection involving thousands of "protesters" going to the united states capitol to protest the decision to cancel the electoral voting process in which the vice president (mike pence) was to decide on the winner of the 2020 election. For what we know of the individuals who participated in the insurrection many of the groups involved where either far right extremist groups like Q'anon or confederate wielding trump supporters. Or normal working class people standing up for what they believed to be correct.

I would say my feelings towards the insurrection are a mix of disappointment and disgust, overall I would say I was mostly disgusted not at the rioters, protesters or insurrectionist's but at this country as a whole. I think that deep down those people probably wouldn't have had to commit a horrible crime if this country was supporting its own people. For as many who did or didn't like Donald trump i think that many of the unheard voices or alienated part's of the population actually felt heard; this was a instrumental part in how Donald trump got elected. For what it is this country has failed its people, but I think that failure is only temporary and so success in the future might come for this great nation.

I would say for what it is, it was a wrong decision for Donald trump to facilitate the behavior that caused these riots but in all fairness i think that every day people should be educated and not be swayed by politicians on the basis of comfort or economic prosperity. The actions caused on January 6th where a result of people relying way to much on people who don't represent us as culture/nation. Nevertheless i think that we as a people are doing the ultimate wrong by sitting here and watching our nation crumble, I think that to undo our sins of the past we have to take the next step in taking action for our civil liberties and rights by actually speaking up and harassing our politicians (politely).

When people storm the capital building (a symbol of everything the US is) with violence and hate, there is nothing but division and discrimination on display here. It's an injustice to the citizens of the US as well as the people who participate in politics fairly, especially the president, and never should've happened. Democratic politicians should act with respect and in accordance with the constitution which was written with an intent of bringing unity and acceptance in this country, and when politicians like Trump do what they do, they incite division and hatred which is against everything this country represents.

There is much information we currently know about the insurrection that happened on January 6, 2021 and the following Impeachment trial. To begin with, Donald Trump was impeached again following the insurrection of January 6, 2021, making him the first U.S. President to be impeached twice. Even before the insurrection, Trump continued to falsely claim that the Democrats were rigging the election. Narratives that the 2020 Election is fraud and conspiracy theories came to the surface. So on January 6, 2021, Trump and his supporters held a rally at a park in Washington DC. During the rally, Trump continued to claim that he won the election by a “landslide” and encouraged his supporters to march to the Capitol building and “fight like hell”. As a result, the large mob of Trump supporters attacked the Capitol building which led to the death of 5 and approximately 140 police officers criminally assaulted. Additional information I would like to know: How many people were charged with crimes? Why did it take so long for more police officers/security to come? How could this have been prevented? Who are the different groups of rioters?

It seems that the people who were there did not even get affected for me I feel like this was also based off a race thing imagine if a group of colored people had done that there would have been many deaths.
To the people that attacked on Jan.6th for them the stake was losing their leader the guy they wanted to stay in control forever. This incident just taught me that this country clearly only cares about protecting the rights of white people this is how the united started I am not really surprised but this is completely unfair because when there is peaceful protest colored people get shot get hurt beaten thrown everything that should've been happening when people were breaking in to the capital but sense these were white people I don't think they wanted to hurt anyone. There should be a change immediately they need to act on the laws they set no matter what color what race what gender anything none of that matters if you are breaking the law and they should honor that and not step down or just not act and let white people get away with anything
