There is only 43,000 Koalas left in the world. That might seem like a big number but there really is not has much.

Specialist & Generalist

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Generalist_and_specialist_species A generalist is an organism/species that is able to sustain itself in a variety of conditions (such as temperature, moisture, sunlight etc) while making use of different diets/foods and materials.
For example, humans. Humans are able to survive throughout the Earth, thus they are able to survive in a variety of habitats and are not limited to one specific area. Humans can obtain energy for themselves through a variety of diets such as only consuming plant type foods, meats, etc. Additionally as we move around the world we make use of many different types of natural resources around us such as woods and metals. Humans are a prime example of a generalist species however there are many other species that can be considered generalists such as misquotes.
However specialist are organisms/species that are limited and can only thrive in certain environments with specific diets and resources. One example of a specialist species is cactuses. Cactuses need to be in a very specific environment in order to achieve growth. Such as temperature, moisture, location and diet. A cactus will not grow if it is placed in a very cold dark, and dry environment, and will not eat foods such as a cooked steak. Having these specific conditions may make the species easier to become extinct. If one important factor is removed from their environment the specialist species will not be able to survive and surely perish. A prime factor that affects a classification as either specialist or generalist is a species ability to adapt. If a species is able to adapt better than another species it will naturally be be able to survive in more environments. For example if one species can adapt significantly better than another species it can travel around and flourish. However if a species cannot adapt to different location it will be trapped in one specific area thus making it easier to become extinct.
