If something needs to be done around the house, pick up something from the shops, or talk about how you’re feeling, companions can provide support. Companions can be available for up to three hours a week, and also provide support over the phone.

We support people with disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, older people, and provide breaks and support for carers.

Re-engage provides activity groups, call companions and monthly tea parties.

The service is funded by Monmouthshire County Council and the Newport Locality team at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to deliver free Respite support across these two areas. Alternatively, a chargeable service, delivering respite support in homes across Gwent at a competitive rate is also provided.

The service provides a needs based service offering different packages of support, from individual support, peer support via themed groups, issue based workshops/groups, activities/trips/residential breaks.

Currently Barnado's offers this service from Caerphilly, Newport and Merthyr Tydfil.

Mental Health Services within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board cover community and in-patient settings. Our focused service is dedicated to supporting the Welsh Government Strategy "Together for Mental Health".

CMHTs provide care for working-age adults (18-65 years) who have moderate to severe, unstable mental health problems.

Individuals with mild to moderate difficulties or those whose symptoms are stable are advised to see the Primary Mental Health Support Service.

In Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan Community Mental Health Teams serve populations according to their GP practice.

Referral into these teams is usually via your GP.

The referral path is through Newport City Council, but we can help you with this.
