I was really excited about it, and especially because my mom was really proud of it. Suddently, we lived another bad experience. I lived with my mom and one brother. I was really good when I was at school. I started to like languages and felt in love with English. One day, my English teacher invited me to participate in an English seminar. It was a great gift! I never expected that! We went there and guess what: there were foreigners in the talks. I was amazed and at the same time shocked because it was the first time I saw an american person that close to me.  When one of them came to greet my teacher and me I was really nervous, that much I could not even say a word. The answer was the same: it was very expensive. However, in that place we saw one possibility: applying for a scholarship. I have indiginous roots, so at that time the American Embassy was giving scholarships to people with indiginous roots or by being afrodescendants. I applied to it and waited for a couple of months. One day, it was a Thursday in September of 2011, I received a phone call from the Colombo Americano. The news were just incredible: Only two people were chosen to get the scholarship in Risaralda, and I was one of them! It was not easy for me. In fact, it was hard at the beginning. I didn't understand anything in the classes. I graduated from my school. I was really excited because I got different distinctions because of my academic performance. I went to the Colombo again to see if I could get another scholarship, but this time to study my degree in the United States. It all started pretty good but I couldn't get it because I failed a test. I was really sad and angry at the same time. However, in the Colombo, the director helped my to study and offered me a job in the institute in order to make a change: I was supposed to work for some amount of hours in order to study a special course they offered there in order to become and English teacher. I accepted it and started working in order to pay my studies. It was extremely hard for me because I had to study with many native speakers. My English was not that advanced at that time, I studied hard and I gratuated from my course as an English Teacher when I was 17 years old! I could not believe it. Thanks to my job I have achieved other goals like for example buying my own transportation. I bought a motorcycle two years ago. I was really happy and scared at the same time. Some months after buying it, I had a terrible accident. I got injured a lot but fortunately nothing severe happened. Additionally, other accomplisment I have achieved was travelling to the caribean coast which I did not know.  It was a really good time being in Cartagena. I visited many beaches and beautiful places. Now, I am getting ready for another trip I am going to do in May. I will travel to Santa Marta and La Guajira which are places I want to get to know.
