We also finished up on our Class Discussion for The Things They Carried. Many people brought up the point that true war stories aren't based entirely in reality. Usually the shock of someone dying takes everybody by suprise, and you don't even comprehend they are dead.

Generally, spread out a long term work over an actually long time) (Sep 3rd - 9th)

Completed a task where, in groups, we had to analyze "The Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong" chapter, and discuss the change that the character of the chapter underwent, as well as a bonus question stating if this is her going insane, or her expressing more of herself and breaking commonly associated feminine terms (Sep 7th - 13th)

Analyzed an example paper 1 from another student, and rated his overall performance which, overall, was a very good example as the class agreed (Sep 9th)

Analyze Liza Donnel's Feminist Cartoons, and how they express both the problems in our society regarding what is masculine and feminine, what is slutty and good girl behavior, and overexpression and major emphasis on minor aspects among others. (Sep 15th - 22nd)

Complete an individual analysis on a single cartoon of Liza Donnel's and explain different aspects of the cartoon (how many people are in the picture, what are they doing, etc) (Sep 30th - Oct 5th)

Topic of the Month: The Sound of Waves

- The Sound of Waves Close Reading Chapters 11-16: We were organized into groups of 3 for each chapter. I did chapter 15, where Shinji has come back from his great deed, and the Lighthouse Keeper's wife has received a letter from her daughter distraught about her lies. She confronts Terukichi about Shinji and Hatsue marrying, only to hear that he already believes in Shinji due to his "get-up-and-go". (Feb 7th) 7/7

- Character Analysis: In order to prepare for the summative, we were given two characters to work on in groups of 1 or 2. In my group's case, we had the lighthouse keeper's wife and Hiroshi Kubo. (Feb 9th - Feb 11th) 6/7

- IO Practice - Link the Global Issues - Formative Assessment: For two classes, we had to read through a document, label 10 example questions and answers with different global issues, justify, and then write our own question and answer. (Feb 11th - Feb17th) 7/7

- Paper 2 Planning Sheet: Planning sheet for paper 2 on Yukio Mishima's "The Sound of Waves". (Feb 15th - Feb 21st)

- Paper 2 Summative Assessment - The proper paper 2, can be done over the week but recommended to do it all at once. I chose the question "Writers often use the archetype of ‘the hero’ in literary works. To what extent is this archetype present in the two literary works studied? (The Things They Carried, The Sound of Waves)". (Feb 21st - Feb 28th) (7/7)
