This building was constructed by the government in 1972 as a symbol of independence and hope. The building was ravaged by war and then stripped of anything potentially salvageable by looters, leaving behind nothing more than a concrete frame. Although the roof caved in, Somalia's politicians still convene there because of the symbolic nature of the building.
