For my placement, I was a part of the Hypertension and Diabetes research division and my primary supervisor, Dr Maria Jelinic, is one of the Lab Heads for this division. I asked Dr Jelinic to explain the CCBDR funding model because I was interested in how her research is funded. We discussed the process by which funds are acquired and distributed within the CCBDR institute. This mindmap summarises what we discussed.

I sat down with two PhD students; Buddhila Wickramasinghe and Taylor Gibson Hughes, and discussed the different ways researchers and students acquire monetary support. This poster represents the knowledge I gained from the discussion.

The CCBDR held an event for the year sixes from Watsonia Heights Primary School, called Heart Camp. It involved many activities related to heart health. My role involved teaching children about the anatomy of the brain and how to measure blood pressure. These are some photos of what the set-up looked like!

My supervisor guided me through the process of a Haematotoxylin & Eosin (H&E) stain on mice liver cross-sections. The PDF contains the procedure I followed as well as the staining results under the microscope! I've also attached photos of the equipment and what set-up looked like.

This is the program for the First Year Fest at La Trobe University with my name written in it as the co-chairman for session 1 (10:00-11:40 am). It was the first seminar I have ever co-chaired! It involved first-year PhD students and second-year Masters students presenting the research they found so far.

Each week, my supervisor's laboratory division holds a team meeting to discuss housekeeping rules and general announcements. A different member of the team presents their research each week and the team discusses the data they've obtained and provides feedback. One of the weeks, I was given the opportunity to present during the meeting and chose to talk about my desired career path and the tasks associated with LTU3IND.
