This news article covers an incident from March of 2017 where a driver's ed teacher refused to train a student who would not recite the Pledge of Allegiance. The driver's ed teacher was fired for not doing their job by refusing to train the student. This article is important because it shows the the complexity of teacher rights vs. students rights. Although teachers have certain rights, they do not have the right to deny students training because of personal beliefs. Students cannot be punished for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. This teacher also did not have tenure and therefore was able to be terminated without full due process.
