The driver's ed teacher was fired for not doing their job by refusing to train the student. This article is important because it shows the the complexity of teacher rights vs. students rights. Although teachers have certain rights, they do not have the right to deny students training because of personal beliefs. Students cannot be punished for refusing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. By doing nothing districts can be held liable. This resource provides court cases which involved the above topics with students and explains the decisions of the courts.
