The first time I was introduced to Percy Jackson was when my older brother started watching the movie on TV when I was about 8 or 9. I then found one of his books while he was at a basketball game and starting reading it. Once I started reading it, I was instantly hooked. After reading the first book, I instantly wanted to read more and implored my parents to buy me a collection of all of the books.

The Princess Bride

I watched this movie years ago, I liked watching the part where the masked man has to face the three people that stole the princess. I always thought that the fact that the man was able to use both his strength and wits to overpower all of them was interesting and would always laugh when he would choose the poisoned drink.

March: Book One

I read March going into Junior Year and initially thought that it was going to be a slow and boring book about how somebody climbed the political ladder during the Civil Rights Movement. However, I was pleasently surprised by the amount of detail John Lewis provided and how descriptive he was, utilizing certain writing/drawing strategies to emphasize moments, to show how hard life was in a different perspective than I was used to.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

I started reading a Series of Unfortunate Events in the third grade, and much like Percy Jackson, once I read the first book, I didn't want to stop. While I was reading the books, I would watch the show on Netflix so that the episodes would correspond to which book I was reading, offering a unique spin on each book I was reading and giving a visual input into details I might not have been able to pick up alone in the books. Once I finished the 13th/last book, I was at a loss for what to read next since I was so invested.
