How to make lessons engaging and interesting for students from different levels using stories and ICT (Canva/Nearpod) etc.

I've employed group work and inquiry based dialogue to make peer learning/sharing possible and thus making the leason more engaging.

• The teachers who had done lesson sharing. All the presenters shared very interesting and different strategies used to engage the students. This gave us many ideas on how to utilise different ICT and CL strategies to deliver the lesson.

High point:

• Our students internalised and exhibit the values thought in SS class even out of the classroom.

Enjoyed learning from the different sharing during TTT by Pearlie and Mrs Nadan. Allowed me to see how SS is taught at different levels and differentiated, as well as the range of resources available.

High point:

Revamping the P6 performance task and seeing the completed projects.

• The level teachers appreciated the one point access to resources.

• Nature of the task allowed students to be self-directed, and they had chances for self-discovery through the planning and research of their choice of innovation.

• The use of Canva enabled students to express their learning in creative ways and enhanced their presentations.

• Teachers did not have the time to use Kahoot quizzes in class due to 1-period time constraints.

• Can we use non-ICT platforms for FAs too? If not, can we use classpoint instead of Kahoot?

• Certain topics are unrelatable for pupils (eg. SARS topic on "Don't forget your thermometer").

• Some questioning/topics requires higher order thinking. Certain lower pri students are not ready for these critical-thinking questions (too profound). Required a lot more scaffolding than expected and took up more periods.

Often have to bring in anecdotes, personal experiences and current issues to link up with topic ideas. Eg. SG Long island/ SG Masterplan when touching on early SG town planning; Personal experiences when talking about War, Early settlement - current foreign/PR students in class and their dynamics were shared.

• Was it too early in the year to be doing a performance task. Some skills needed to be taught prior.
