Time Stamp: 0:00 - 1:30

Child A is playing at the sensory table, exploring with beads using funnels, measuring cups, scoops and toy mills. Child A scoops a cup of beads into the measuring cup as he lifts a funnel into the air and watches the beads run through the tube quickly. Child A places the funnel in the air slightly over child B's measuring cup and sifts the beads into Child B's measuring cup .Child A then moves the funnel over to Child C's cup as the beads swiftly empty the tube. Child A plays independently as he scoops more beads into the measuring cup and dump it again into the funnel. Child A then quickly places the measuring cup under the funnel as he investigates and watches the flow of the beads. Child A continuously proceeds to fill the funnel scooping them with his hands and watches the beads go through the tube and fill the measuring cup.

Based on our observation child A appears to be interested in scooping and dumping. We know child A appears to be interested in scooping and dumping because he continuously uses the blue measuring cup to scoop up the beading. Child A then proceeds to dump them into the funnel using various tools such as his his hand and the measuring cup as he watch them go through the funnel.

It appear that Child A is interested and trying to figure out cause and effect. This was shown when Child A was scooping the beading into the funnel and watching the way the beads came out. Child A seemed to be intreated on the way the funnel worked and where the beads came out prior to him putting them into the funnel.

Based on our observation, Child A seems to be interested in sensory play and exploration. This is evident as the child continually plays in the sensory bin while exploring how the different beads and materials flow through the funnels, cups and how these materials are manipulated through the different items.

A) Teacher and child initiated B) This activity can be both child and teacher initiated because the teacher could provide guidelines. However, it can also be child initiated because the child can explore the cause and effect using exploration of play C) Freeze dinosaurs or other object into water creating ice and let the children investigate what happens when they play with it . This activity will support there interest and curiosity of cause and effect because the children will be able to explore what will happen to the ice when children play with it. They are able to explore what will happen if the ice gets warm . They will be able to figure out various ways of getting the object out of the ice. D) This activity is close ended because there is an end result to get the item out of the ice.

A) This activity is child-led. B) This activity is child-led as children are able to freely explore the use of colour and the mixing of pigments through this experience. There are no specific guidelines to follow for this activity, which allow each child to independently play and explore at their own will. C) This activity supports the interest of cause and effect as children will be able to explore how colours mix and blend together, seeing in real time how pigments and shades can change and adapt when mixed or manipulated. D) This activity is open-ended because there is no end product, children can extend this activity as much or as little as they wish to.

Why do you think this happens?"

B) This intentional verbal teaching strategy allows children to expand on the current activity as it invites them to explore the materials hands-on to see how the temperature of their hands can manipulate and melt away the ice to free the dinosaurs, without the use of other materials or props, such as eye-droppers or paintbrushes.

A)"What happens if you mix red and blue together?"

B)In this experience, children are learning to investigate and understand the process of cause and effect of mixing colours. To support this inquisitive thinking, educators can ask questions such as "What happens if you mix red and blue together?" to help strengthen the child's investigation process of not only mixing colours but how, when colours and pigments are blended we can create a various array of new colours to explore. This specific question can be adapted using different colours to mix to expand the responsive experience.

By asking children this question it gets children to think deeper and explore more. It can lead to various other activities, creates children to possible other questions they may have and explore till they find the answer to the questions they may have.
