This semester I tried chalk and paint on cardboard, Sharpie and Spray Paint, Oil on canvas, two water color pieces and a palette knife acrylic piece. Compared to other years where i may have chosen to stay with materials I know, like pencil or pastel. This was certainly a year that introduced me to be more experimental. There are a couple times I struggled throughout the year with the new materials. The one I remember the most is in my first Independent Project. I tried mixing some black into my purple night sky and it didn't turn out like I wanted. But after working with It i turned them into a sky that did become into one of my favorite things from the piece. I see art as something I find pleasurable, but I have had thoughts of pursuing it as a career in Architecture. I enjoy designing and creating building. My sketchbook is just full of random building drawings and I take pride and joy in creating them. I would love to get paid to do something I find joy in. I wanna work on my shading with a brush. I've learned to do this well with pencil and with pastel to some degree. But i want to be able to make things look closer to reality using these materials that are considered more like fine art.
