We believe that cell phones in classrooms should be restricted. They have become a huge distraction over the years. Speaking from personal experience, I focus better when my cell phone is not physically with me or in front of me. We think that students should be able to use it upon request for a valid reason. However, we do not think students should have them and be able to use them at free will.

Our policy would be to put phones away during instruction and work time, however usage during the last few minutes of class, students may have phones.

As a team we decided that a partial restriction on cell phones is what is necessary. We believe that students should keep their phones put away during instructional time. When a teacher gives free time or during lunch is when the student should be on their phone. If a student uses their phone outside of the given free times (unless of an emergency) there will be consequences.

We don't agree with the ban of the phones.

Restrictions should be put in place with some moderations. During times when teachers are lecturing and teaching phones shouldn't be in use but shouldn't be put across the room in a pouch, it should be in reach if medical emergency. But during times with free time and time to work it is up to you and its your choice with what you do.

In schools, phones should be put away until the teacher allows them. Having access to a phone during class allows for so many distractions and decreased social interactions with peers. Once they get to high school, I don't think schools should be as strict because they are almost an adult and need to learn self-control. Having phones in the class can allow students to use resources such as homework helping apps during class, rather than using what the school/teacher provides. If cell phones are banned in schools, there needs to be a clear plan on how students will be able to connect with family in case of an emergency, as well as any medical concerns connected through phones such as insulin.

So if we ban cell phones in the classroom, we believe there are steps that need to be put in place before we can completely take them away from children. We believe that cellphones should be easily accessible in the classroom for safety issues if something did come up. We also believe we should gain recess back and maybe even put a hotline phone, and/or cameras in the classroom for the students safety. We think our policy should create a district wide ground rules for the ban but each teacher gets to create a certain policy for their classroom that works for their specific classroom.

we see both sides of the cell phone policy but in our opinions we don't think phones should be taken and if they are not out of easy access of the student. we think this because it lowers the safety of the students in emergency situations. it will make students pay attention more in class and lower distractions but we dont believe they should be taken.

Our team thought that cell phones should definitely be banned while in the classroom because they can be distracting and affect the students learning. Outside of the classroom, the students should be allowed to have their cell phones. At lunchtime and any breaks in the school day are considered the students' free time and they should get to choose how they spend it.
