-Andre - Great video - of particular interest in this one would be the manipiulation of Eminem's star image and his 'meta-narrative'. He works very hard to make his work seem 'real' and authentic i.e. that we believe that what he is writing is what he is actually going through in his personal life

This music video falls into Narrative and and illustration
-Conor
Yes, quite right - with a bit of performance, too. Classic song, classic video. Some really interesting use of lighting and set design in this one. Always of interest in Eminem's videos is how he portrays the tension between being a superstar and seeming 'normal' to his fans.

James. What a joyous video! All narrative and an amplification rather than illustration of the song. Of most note in this one is the representation of old people (and of bikers). There are also lots of codes (shorthand symbols) to be interpreted such as the broken plant signifying a potential emergency and the many signifers of age/ infirmity.

Abby - This is a beautiful video - a kind of amplification of an idea within some of the lyrics about love 'burning' and - dare I suggest - a metaphor for taking a relationship to 'the next level', perhaps? There are lots of codes and conventions to analyse here but you might like to think about choosing a different one that features different elements beyond just narrative.

This music video falls into Disjuncture

-Conor - Seemingly a disjuncture-type video but perhaps the narrative cartoon is an amplification of the theme of paranioia suggested in the title/ lyric. I would stick with the Eminem video for analysis, however.

llyr - Nice video. Heavily based on performance both live and lip-synced. Notable features are the very low colour saturation - almost black and white look (why, do you think?) and the fact that there is almost no direct address - the singer does not look at the viewer hardly at all.

- Josh - A really interesting variation of the music video as a tie-in with a movie which features one of the main characters of the movie performing with the artists in the video; mixing the film narrative with the song narrative and the artists' image. There are lots of hip-hop tropes and conventions in this video for you to analyse e.g. the money, cars and highly visible weapons, in this case knives.

Duygu - a very clever narrative video in which the narrative is played in reverse and with the lip-synced performance runs forwards. The singer is both performer and actor in the narrative. It is interesting an amplification of the idea of 'going back to the start' and there is an interesting shift from him addressing the viewer directly to being in more of a third person narrative as the video progresses (backwards)!

Bethan. This is a beautifully-shot video filmed entirely on location (no studio). Entirely narrative/ amplification-based. No performance at all. There is a really effective sense of tension established by filming the two charatacters separately in the same locations - will they meet? When they do the video becomes a celebration of the wonderfully fleeting nature of the holiday romance. The representation of African people also is interesting in this video.
