She always went though a rough time when taking her childhood into consideration. When it came time to choosing the members of the fight to death at the capital, Katniss's sister was chosen. She refused to believe this so therefore, she decided to, "volunteer as tribute". This was a big step showing how she came forward with character identity. This was something that stuck out to me when I read the book showing how similar she is when it comes to Equality and how similar they are in their timidness. Confrontation is something the reader often feels uncomfortable with. Katniss was walking by a nearby bakery one day and saw the baker. He could see how hungry she was and "threw a loaf of bread in [her] direction".
