This is the lugi technique preperation for turns, we did this to ensure our supporting legs were pulled up
and our retire was in the correct position and our weight was on centre. "The sooner you get to the proper position, the less chance the movement will throw you off your leg as you’re turning around." (C.E., 2018)I need to remember this to complete a sharp, neat double turn.

This is me actually executing the lugi straight leg turns, this is one of the most common types of turns in the dance industry. The correct position should be Asia a piece of string is being pulled through my body from the ball of my foot to the top of my head, with pulled back shoulders.

This is another exercise I undertake to practice turns, these are low level turns that I use with my teacher Eric who focuses on matt mattox jazz. i also need to focus on these turns more specifically because I struggle to keep my balance on a low level, to ensure I can execute theses successfully I will firstly strengthen my core and then I will continue to practice this exercise.

Something I struggle to execute in the core techniques module are double turns on a straight leg the reason I struggle with them is because I lift my pelvis up when preparing to land, as shown in the "exciting straight leg turns" video below. I understand the alliagntment should be like a pencil and pulled up. To prevent this from continuing to happen I will practice the preparation for turns exercise to ensure I am on my leg and my supporting leg is pulled up to the maximum.

another weakness I have noticed is overall posture for instance I tend to raise my shoulders when dancing because I forget about them, this is patriculay noticeable when I turn or left my arms up above my head.

another weakness I feel I have is flexibility I feel like this is. a massive restriction for me especially for my kicks to second and leaps, my frame appears small and apologetic when something demanding flexibility is required - to avoid this for future I will stretch a lot more frequently.

something that I believe is a strength of mine is my elevation, when it comes to the leaps and other elevated movement I feel like I exceed this because I have the ability to jump high this is due to my deep plie before taking of and bending my knees on the landing ready to take off again.

another strength of mine in the core technique module is my ability to attack certain movements, in routines such as the Lugi routine (showcased below) I feel like I have a strong persona on the certain movements, which allows me o attack movement giving me the masculine look when dancing.

over the semester I believe my technique as a whole has drastically improved for instance things that I believe I have improved on is; general technique, for example in ballet with Mr Needem we practice an exercise called petit battmon at the begginign of the semester I really struggled with this exercise because I could isolate my knee joint from my leg which made the exercise on my behalf very messy and out of control, whilst now a couple of months on I believe that particular exercise is a lot neater and is looking how it is supposed to and it is also having affect on my battu work for jumps allowing me to execute harder balletic jumps.

During the next academic year I would like to focus on a few things to help improve my overall presence as a dancer. For instance, I would firstly like to imrpove on my flexibility because I really believe this is something that is holding me back, I feel stiff and ridged when dancing sometimes and I fell like this is the reason I struggle to get across the stylistic look the style of dance is asking for.

Another core technique I would like to work on would be focusing on my general technique although this has improved I still believe there is a lot I could excel on for instance, the basic linking steps in Lugi jazz I want to make them feel effortless and thoughtless with also a hint of style allowing my presence to be enjoyed as a dancer rather then it looking messy and sloppy.
