For example, in 2017, the median household income for African Americans was $40,258 compared to  the $68,145 annual income for White Americans in the United states. While money may not directly buy happiness, money does buy health insurance, food, bills, and many other luxuries that can increase the quality of someone's life. The access to these luxuries is an example of the idea of "privilege". This photo of me last summer on the top of a cruise ship demonstrates the idea of privilege since I was financially privileged enough to afford to go on the vacation.
