Terrence Purnell is a longtime clinical assurance professional who most recently served as Associate Director, Clinical Quality Assurance (CQA), with Takeda Pharmaceutical in Massachusetts. He managed audits, inspections, and quality issues across various clinical development programs. Terrence Purnell promptly addressed compliance issues and risks as required, and recommended mitigation and corrective steps.

Having developed a risk-based audit platform, Mr. Purnell oversaw quality issue investigations including serious breaches and scientific misconduct, and supported robust root cause analysis. He facilitated the creation of preventive actions that were appropriate and helped boost clinical trial accuracy and results. Mr. Purnell has also overseen CQA operations for pharmaceutical companies such as CSL Behring and Ophthotech. With the latter firm, he oversaw the audit program for supplier activities and ensured that they met regulatory compliance and internal standards.

Terrence Purnell is active with the Society of Quality Assurance and the Society of Clinical Research Associates. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, biking, and working out at the gym.
