         <description><![CDATA[<div>Education and Academic Career: Akif started his education life in Cairo. He first attended the neighborhood school and then attended Darü'l-Fünun in Cairo. Then he returned to Istanbul and entered the Mekteb-i Mülkiye. After graduating from Mekteb-i Mülkiye, he taught Islamic history at Darü'l-Fünun.<br>Poetry and Literature Career: Mehmet Akif dealt with poetry in various periods. His first poem was published in Servet-i Fünun magazine. Later, he started writing poems dealing with national and patriotic themes. The National Anthem started to be written in 1912 and was completed during the War of Independence.</div>]]></description>

The anthem expresses the spirit of patriotism and independence of the Turkish nation and has become a symbol of the War of Independence period.<br>Political Views: Mehmet Akif Ersoy was a personality who gave great importance to religious and national values. For this reason, he supported the War of Independence. However, he also had criticisms against the course of Turkey's political structure.<br>His Last Years and Death: Mehmet Akif Ersoy went through a difficult period and had health problems when he wrote the national anthem.
