The main image is of the protagonist at the front and two other characters who are main characters in the film Ex_Machina. the characters are giving direct address this is a convention of film magazines as by the characters looking at the audience they are then connected with the target audience which can often place an audiences attention to that magazine. The characters are wearing the costumes which they are dressed in the film as, this is a convention as normally those who are placed on the front cover of movie magazines are shown as the person they play instead of the actors in real life. The characters have been edited to be placed over the masthead which gives the audience a better look at the characters also showing that they are the most important feature.

The masthead is hidden behind the main image, meaning an audience can already recognise the masthead name, this is a convention to help show off the main image and what the magazine has to offer inside. The masthead also follows the colour theme by being filled in purple, it blends into the background to help show off the "World Exclusive" that the magazine is trying to sell to the audience. It is conventional to have the masthead being the biggest text on the page and having it at the top of the page for a reliable audience to recognise.

There is a theme of purple which runs strongly through the magazine front cover. This colour is not one of the main colours that are shown on any other media texts when it comes to the advertisement of this film; however the colour purple has been used as a complimentary colour which adds the feelings of mystery and creativity to the front cover, this all connects with the genre of this film which is psychological thriller and mystery.

Anchorage Text

The text which connects to the main image is presented in the same font style as the style used on other media products to advertise this film. By using the same font style their is a connection with all of the products and an audience can become familiar with this film; when they see this style and font an audience realises the connection it has with the film Ex_Machina. The anchorage text is slightly translucent which makes the text look more appealing and as a convention on movie magazines, it tries not to take too much attention away from the main image. The colour of this text is a cool grey which matches the costumes which the characters wear and the mood of the facial expressions which the characters give off. The anchorage text is placed at the bottom of the page in the middle, having the anchorage text being placed over the main image proves the connection, another convention.

Buzz Words

The buzz word that is used on this movie magazine is "World Exclusive" which is in purple writing in a white box above the anchorage text. This buzz word is a great movie magazine convention as because of it's powerful meaning, it attracts an audience to find out what is this exclusive. Another reason for an audience to pick up the magazine and buy it.
