Cinderella- I thought this was a beautiful and sad story because Cinderella had to live with her step mother and sisters who treated her very badly and had to go through a lot on her own. She would always go to her mothers grave and her wishes would be granted. I enjoyed reading this version more and it didn’t bore me like I thought it would at the beginning. It piqued my interest by showing that the story didn’t happen all in one or two days but instead multiple and had more interactions between the characters. 

Cinderella: Overall, I thought this version of the story was a bit dark to be considered a children’s story. There are some depressing and morbid references in the story like how Cinderella grew her tree from crying about her mother’s death, or how the sisters cut off parts of their feet to please their mother’s wishes of being royal. I didn’t realize that it was so he and his sister could find their way home from the woods. This was also when I realized how different this version of the story would be compared to the Disney version.

Cinderella: One epiphany I had while reading was where was when Cinderella got her dress. Since I inferred that there was probably not going to be a Godmother once I read that the tree had grown, I pieced the fact that Cinderella had her animal friends help her out. I had forgotten how much of an important role the animals had played in the story while reading. For Cinderella a thought that the ending was very extreme and if the step sisters really deserved to get there eyes gouged out. Also the Grimm brothers fairy tale was much more graphic then the ones I am used to by Disney.

- It’s a pretty sad story, especially the fact where their parents abandon them because they didn’t have enough to support them. It intrigued me how this one had a good ending as I heard the story of Hansel and Gretel before, but only a summary.

Cinderella

- I was always familiar with the more friendly version of cinderella and I heard that there was a dark version of this story, but never bothered to read it. Now that I did it gives me satisfaction to know Cinderella for proper revenge

Cinderella: This verse of Cinderella is different from the movie. In the movie she only goes to the ball once but in the story she goes there 3 times and she never wore a blue ballgown and glass slippers. She had gold shoes in this story. I find this version of Cinderella a bit different from the versions I have read as a child. This version has violence unlike the few other versions I’ve read. Something that stood out was the fact that Cinderella’s father didn’t care for her and he was still alive in the beginning of the story. There were more details that were horrifying. 

Hansel and Gretel: 
Usually I read stories where the fathers are that ones neglecting their children, however in this story the mother was neglecting the children. I found that the dialouge used between the characters were a lot different than the Disney movies. 

My thoughts on Grimm's Hansel and Gretel is that the mother did not deserve her children. She had kids yet wanted nothing to do with them which is really sad. I felt bad for the father because he wanted to save them.

cinderlla-  the ending was very extreme the step sisters there there eyes gouged out. the Grimm brothers fairy tale was much more graphic then the ones made by Disney.
