She would always go to her mothers grave and her wishes would be granted. Her step sisters got punished for all the wrong they did to Cinderella and she finally gets her happily ever after when she got dressed up, danced with the prince, and even when the shoe fit her and was the true bride of the prince.

I think this because he doesn't seem to think very highly of her which is shown when the prince wants to see her and he calls her deformed.
Hansel and Gretel: An epiphany I had about this story is that the woman and the witch are probably the same person because the dad said that the woman died and wasn't there so its possible it was her in the woods.

Cinderella: This version of Cinderella is far different than the other versions I've read. It's more violent and explained in gruesome detail what happened to the stepsister's eyes compared to the Disney version. And, a big difference was the fact that the father didn't care for Cinderella, and nor did he end up dying in the beginning, leaving Cinderella to her new cruel family.
Hansel and Gretel: I like this story because it's realistic and shows that the mother doesn't always deserve to be a mother nor is she always the one to care for her children. The father was the one who wanted to keep the children even though he gave in to his wife to abandon the kids in the forest.

Hansel and Gretel: Overall, I thought the story was a nice change to the regular Disney version I was so used to knowing. I enjoyed reading this version more and it didn’t bore me like I thought it would at the beginning. It piqued my interest by showing that the story didn’t happen all in one or two days but instead multiple and had more interactions between the characters.

Cinderella: Overall, I thought this version of the story was a bit dark to be considered a children’s story. There are some depressing and morbid references in the story like how Cinderella grew her tree from crying about her mother’s death, or how the sisters cut off parts of their feet to please their mother’s wishes of being royal. It was very different compared to the movies and stories produced by Disney, but I can’t blame them for wanting to change it to appeal to a better and younger audience.

I didn’t realize that it was so he and his sister could find their way home from the woods. This was also when I realized how different this version of the story would be compared to the Disney version.

Cinderella: One epiphany I had while reading was where was when Cinderella got her dress. Since I inferred that there was probably not going to be a Godmother once I read that the tree had grown, I pieced the fact that Cinderella had her animal friends help her out. I had forgotten how much of an important role the animals had played in the story while reading. Noticing how she called on them to help her before she went to the ball made me realize that she would get her dress from her animal friends and not her Godmother.

One epiphany I had from Hansel and Gretel was how the father was genuinely happy that his children are back and how it was mysterious that the woman died the same time the witch did. Also it may be possible that the witch was the fathers wife as well because they both wanted to get rid of the kids and call them the same way. Even if they are not the same person, the witch maybe symbolism for the wife.
One epiphany I had for Cinderella was Cinderellas father did not like her as much as the other step children. in the beginning of the story he got all his children an gift but at the end he called Cinderella deformed.

Cinderella-
I find this version of Cinderella a bit different from the versions I have read as a child. This version has violence unlike the few other versions I’ve read. Something that stood out was the fact that Cinderella’s father didn’t care for her and he was still alive in the beginning of the story. There were more details that were horrifying.

Hansel and Gretel:
Usually I read stories where the fathers are that ones neglecting their children, however in this story the mother was neglecting the children. I appreciate how they changed it up and made it unlike other stories.

Hansel and Gretel- Throughout the story I got an epiphany that the stepmother might have been the witch. The dialogue was similar in many ways and it was strange that she knew her way around the forest.

Cinderella- While I was reading I had an epiphany that her mother was there with her but not physically. Her mother might have been watching over her. Her mother might have seen the way the family was treating her and helped her in a way even though she wasn’t there with her physically.

My thoughts on Grimm's Cinderella is that it's the classic "rags to riches" kind of story. I found that the dialouge used between the characters were a lot different than the Disney movies.

My thoughts on Grimm's Hansel and Gretel is that the mother did not deserve her children. She had kids yet wanted nothing to do with them which is really sad. I felt bad for the father because he wanted to save them.

Hansel and Gretel: I like how the siblings made it a goal to stick together and support each other regardless of the fact that their parents neglected them due to financial issues. This story truly showcases the power of sibling love. I really appreciated how the tale ended in a happy ending

Cinderella: I think this story highlights what many people have to go through. Some people who have to live with foster parents or step parents are faced with the harsh reality that they are not truly cared for, similar to how cinderella felt.
