         <title>1954 - Brown v. Board of Education</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Thurgood Marshal was against segregation in public schools. Believed it was wrong and was successful to the point the Supreme Court decides to no longer allow segregation in school. This is connected to the civil rights movement because it helped call he racism and discrimination that was happening in schools and helped put a stop to it.</p>]]></description>

State troops attacked 600+ people where this day became known as “Bloody Sunday”. This event shocked the nation which led to the voting rights act. This relates to the civil rights movement as this helped secure American Americans the ability/choice to vote.</p>]]></description>

Newton and Bobby Seale, who met at Merritt College in Oakland. They advocated for black people to have to ability to defend themselves. This relates to civil right movement as it helped inspire future generations of activists.</p>]]></description>
