I believe Simplera is a significant step forward in CGM technology. Having a smaller, disposable, all-in-one sensor that does not require fingerstick calibration makes managing diabetes much less of a hassle. This simplified monitor helps reduce the everyday challenges people face, including the pain of fingersticks, visibility, inconvenience, and the mental load of constant tracking. Because Simplera works with both insulin pens and pumps, it is more accessible to different patient needs.

However, Simplera is not without its downsides. Cost, availability, skin sensitivity, and how well it works are still significant concerns. Nevertheless, I think the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, especially for those who want more freedom from frequent fingersticks and more automation in their care. The potential to help more people stay within their target range could lead to better long-term health and a higher quality of life, making Simplera a convenient and meaningful advancement in diabetes care.

Angelica – Analytical

Angelica will bring strong critical thinking and data analysis skills to our team. With Simplera being a health technology, her ability to break down information logically will help us evaluate clinical outcomes and technical performance. Her strength complements my futuristic and empathy themes by ensuring our vision is supported by data.

Abraham – Arranger

As an Arranger, Abraham thrives on organization and flexibility. He is the ideal teammate for managing timelines, adapting plans, and keeping the project's moving parts running smoothly. This supports my Achiever strength by ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.

Ivy – Individualization

Ivy and I both bring an eye for what makes each person different, which will help us shape an evaluation that reflects the real needs of diverse patients. By working together, we can ensure our recommendations feel personalized and practical for those receiving care.

Faith – Futuristic

Faith is like me in always looking ahead to what is next. Her futuristic mindset helps us look ahead to imagine what is possible and consider how Simplera might improve diabetes care down the road. She will help keep our team focused on where things are going, not just where they are now.

Carter – Communication

Carter will play a key role in helping us communicate findings clearly and persuasively. Whether presenting to leadership or creating materials for end-users, his Communication strength ensures our message is understood and impactful. This balances well with my Empathy and Activator strengths.

Medtronic's Simplera is a new continuous glucose monitor (CGM) that received FDA approval in 2024 for use with the InPen smart insulin pen (Medtronic, 2024a). In 2025, it was also approved for integration with the MiniMed™ 780G system through the Simplera Sync sensor (Medtronic, 2025a). This is Medtronic's first all-in-one disposable CGM, eliminating the need for a separate transmitter and making it much easier for users to manage (Hopcroft & Heltzel, 2024).

Designed to be worn on the upper arm, Simplera features a slim, flat, and square profile and does not require overtape, which makes it more discreet and comfortable (Hopcroft & Heltzel, 2024). The sensor has a seven-day wear period and requires no fingerstick calibration after a two-hour warm-up, reducing the daily burden of diabetes management (Medtronic, 2024b).

Simplera Sync works with the MiniMed 780G's SmartGuard™ system and includes Meal Detection™ technology, which helps adjust insulin automatically when meals are missed or underestimated, leading to better blood sugar control (Medtronic, 2025a). By working with both smart insulin pens and pumps, Simplera gives more people access to personalized and automated diabetes care.

This new technology makes managing diabetes easier and smarter, and it may help people stay in their target blood sugar range more consistently, making daily life with diabetes more manageable (Hopcroft & Heltzel, 2024).
