         <description><![CDATA[<div>I found it difficult to follow the constant political discord throughout the novel, because we live in a democracy and have never lived in a dictatorship. Their government changed from a monarchy to a religiously run dominated government over a few months, and I struggled to understand how the political state progressed from bad to worse. </div>]]></description>

Marjane found people and groups, was humiliated (Tyrol Page 166-167).<br>Found her group in Tyrol (Page 169)<br>- The Dowry (leaving at the airport and saying goodbye)<br>- Percepolis 2: The Soup (Page 157) - Arriving in a foreign country with new people. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I understood the risks that Marjane and her friends would take to have a "normal life". For example, when Marjane was buying blackmarket CDs to listen to her favourite music. The CDs were very expensive, and Marjane was taking a big risk in buying them, however I think it was worth it because it was like Marjane buying a small piece of freedom and childhood.<br><br>Another example is when Marjane was in the car with friends, and one of her friends took off her veil. This put the women in lots of danger, yet the women&nbsp;risked it, just to let their hair fly free for a few fleeting seconds</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Difficult to understand their willpower at times- pg 76- <br>Although the parents know the danger of the situation they still believe that she should go to the demonstration and defend her rights. <br><br>People today conform much easier to rules and do not want to fight especially when the thought of danger and potential death is there. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I found it hard to relate to her sudden exposure into independence. She went from living with her family and relying on them for everything to suddenly not only living on her own but also in an entirely different country. She had to very quickly learn to do everything on her own, such as shopping and cooking. She also had to learn how to live with complete strangers who, on multiple occasions did not even speak the same language/s as her. This was hard to relate to as I (and most Australian girls my age) have not been exposed to such independence so suddenly. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I did not understand or connect to Marjane’s want to hide her identity. Living in Australia which although racist is a very multicultural country, I have never felt the need to hide my background and/or culture. Because of this I found it hard to relate to how ashamed of her identity she was in other countries.</div>]]></description>
